Clemson’s Halloween trip to Florida State now has a kickoff time, and it comes under the lights.
The ACC announced its Week 9 schedule, and the Tigers will face the Seminoles at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 at Doak Campbell Stadium. The game will air on the ACC Network.
Clemson has spent much of this season in night-game territory, and that trend continues as October closes. If the Tigers can get past Virginia Tech at home this weekend, they’ll head to Tallahassee with one of the stronger ACC records in the league.
The setup adds a little extra edge to the trip. It’s Florida State on Halloween night, in a road environment that already carries weight before the lights even come on.
Clemson enters at 4-2, with its two losses coming against LSU and Miami, the only ranked teams on its schedule. The Tigers have also won their last two meetings with Florida State, including a 24-10 victory at Memorial Stadium last season.
Florida State, meanwhile, is 3-4 and sitting near the bottom of the conference standings at 1-3 in ACC play. The Seminoles’ league win came in convincing fashion, a 38-7 home defeat of Virginia.
But Mike Norvell’s team has had trouble finishing. It forced four turnovers in its first ACC game against SMU and still lost by three at home.
It also led Alabama 21-6 in Tuscaloosa before dropping that game by two scores. Last week, Miami came from behind in Coral Gables and beat the Seminoles in double overtime.
Florida State will have the weekend off before hosting Clemson, which gives the Seminoles extra time to reset before facing a Tigers team that will be looking to keep building momentum offensively.
The Halloween matchup will be Clemson’s sixth night game in eight games this season. The only ACC game the Tigers have played that wasn’t under the lights was North Carolina, though even that one was interrupted by a lightning delay in the fourth quarter.

Dabo Swinney Zeroed In On Clemsons Biggest Passing Problem
Through six games, Clemsons passing offense has been a source of frustration, and Dabo Swinney did not try to dress it up as anything else this week. He pointed to missed opportunities and uneven execution, including dropped touchdown passes and a freshman quarterback still learning on the fly, as the kind of issues that have kept the Tigers from getting more out of the aerial game.
Swinney also stressed that the group has work left to do as Clemson turns to Virginia Tech, even after reaching a recent team goal. The bigger question now is whether the passing game can sharpen up quickly enough to match the rest of the teams progress, because the margin for error only gets thinner from here. [Read more 🡒]
Clemson Just Became Part Of South Carolinas Stretch Run Debate
South Carolinas bye week turned into a useful reminder of how much can still shift in the SEC and beyond, with several highly ranked teams taking losses and reopening the conversation around the rest of the Gamecocks schedule. The latest look at the remaining stretch puts Clemson in the mix among the six opponents still ahead, a group that is being sorted from easiest to toughest based on recent performance and the numbers that matter most down the stretch.
For Clemson, that place in the pecking order says plenty about the way South Carolinas path is being evaluated right now, with Arkansas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma all part of the same discussion. The Tigers are being weighed against the others through their strengths, their flaws and the way they could shape South Carolinas chances in November, which makes every one of those final games feel bigger than it did a week ago. Clemson Gets A Personal ACC Test Under The Lights
Clemsons next ACC test arrives in prime time, with Virginia Tech set for a Oct. 24 visit to Memorial Stadium in a 7 p.m. kickoff on ESPN. The Hokies come in at 5-2 under first-year coach James Franklin, while Dabo Swinneys Tigers are 4-2 and looking to keep their place in the league race in front of a home crowd under the lights.
There is also a familiar name across the field in Virginia Tech quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer, the Penn State transfer who helped beat Clemson in the 2025 Pinstripe Bowl. Clemson has taken the last seven meetings in the series, but this matchup carries a little extra edge because of Grunkemeyers recent history against the Tigers and the chance for Swinneys team to answer it in a setting built for a statement game.
