Clemson heads to Syracuse on Saturday with a fresh boost from its best win of the season, but this one has all the markings of a game that could get uncomfortable fast.
The Tigers are coming off their 34-21 win at Florida State, a result that marked the second time all season they topped 30 points and the first time they did it against an FBS opponent. Syracuse, meanwhile, is not in the ACC title picture, but the Orange have clearly turned a corner. They sit at 4-4 overall and 2-4 in league play, and after dropping their first four conference games, they’ve answered with back-to-back upset wins over North Carolina and SMU.
A big reason for that surge has been the return of quarterback Steve Angeli to the starting lineup. Syracuse has looked like a different team with him back running the offense, and Clemson can’t afford to treat this like a routine road trip.
The latest line from FanDuel Sportsbook has Clemson laying 2.5 points on the road. The Tigers are -134 on the moneyline, while Syracuse sits at +114.
The over/under is 49.5 points, with a projected finish around Clemson 26, Syracuse 23.5. The spread opened at Clemson -1.5, so the market has moved in the Tigers’ direction, but not enough to make this feel safe.
This one could hinge on quarterback play, with Tait Reynolds matched up against Angeli. It may also come down to which team protects the football and which head coach adjusts better as the game unfolds.
Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, NY.
ESPN2 will carry the game nationally, and it can also be streamed on fuboTV. On the radio side, Clemson fans can tune in to 105.5 FM The Roar or one of the Clemson Athletic Network affiliates.
The matchup should be tighter than Clemson’s win over Florida State. Reynolds is expected to keep building momentum, and that could set him up as QB1 going into next year. Syracuse, though, should be steadier than the Seminoles were on Halloween night, and the Orange have enough at home to make this a real test.
Clemson’s defense under Tom Allen and special teams under Rich Bisaccia should help offset an offense that is missing three key starters for Dabo Swinney. Syracuse will try to feed off the crowd, but Clemson still has the edge in all three phases. Nolan Hauser could be a difference-maker again, and even if the Tigers don’t reach 30 points for a second straight week, they should do enough to become bowl eligible.

Clemsons Secondary Still Has One Costly Habit Dabo Wants Gone
Clemsons secondary has come a long way this season, and the numbers show it. The Tigers have climbed to 57th nationally in passing yards allowed and sit seventh in total pass breakups, a clear sign that defensive coordinator Tom Allens approach, the promotion of his son Thomas Allen and help from the transfer portal have all made a difference.
Even so, the unit still has a habit Dabo Swinney wants cleaned up after a recent game against Florida State, where the back end let a few situations get away from it. Swinney pointed to situational awareness and execution errors, the kind of mistakes that can undo otherwise solid coverage and keep Clemson from fully trusting how far the secondary has really come. Clemson Heads To Syracuse With An Offense Fans Barely Recognize
Clemson heads to Syracuse with a reshaped offense that looks a lot different from the one fans expected to see when the season began. A freshman, Grant Wise, is set to start at center because of an injury, while senior Jarvis Green is in line for his first career start at running back, a sign of how much the Tigers have had to adjust as they move into a game with similar stakes on both sides.
Syracuse has its own momentum, with quarterback Steve Angeli helping steady the offense after returning from injury and wide receiver Umari Hatcher emerging as one of the nations top performers. With both teams carrying comparable records and plenty to prove, the matchup in the trenches could end up deciding which side leaves with the bigger boost. [Read more 🡒]
Tee Higgins Just Gave Clemson Fans Another Reason To Be Fired Up
Clemson fans have had plenty to keep an eye on this week, with football heading to Syracuse and both basketball programs set for home games against American and East Tennessee State. On top of that, the mens soccer team kept its postseason run alive by edging Duke 2-1 in the first round of the ACC Tournament, giving the Tigers a little extra momentum across the board.
Now theres another familiar name giving the Clemson faithful something to smile about. Tee Higgins, the former Tiger and current Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week after a strong Week 8 showing, a reminder that Clemsons pipeline to the NFL is still producing major moments on Sundays.
