Clemson Commit Trey Wimbley Keeps Giving Fans More To Dream On

Clemson's latest football recruits are making waves on the field, rewriting record books and setting the stage for a promising future at the University.

It was a busy and productive weekend for Clemson’s top commitments, with several pledges and targets piling up production as high school football heads deeper into the stretch run.

The loudest performance came from Trey Wimbley, who is heating up at exactly the right time for Daniel. The four-star Clemson commit helped lift the Lions to a 49-21 win over Pickens in a matchup of unbeaten teams Friday night, with TigerNet on hand to watch both sides enter the game 4-0.

Wimbley showed off the full package. Early in the first quarter, he made a toe-tapping sideline grab on a pass from Jace Grass. Then, right after halftime, he turned a screen into a 35-yard touchdown, slipping past multiple Pickens defenders and racing to the end zone.

The game also carried a place in Daniel’s record book. Wimbley became the second receiver in school history to reach 2,000 yards and is tied for second all-time at the school with 28 touchdown catches.

Daniel also got milestones from Grass, who became just the fifth quarterback in school history to throw for 4,000 career passing yards and the fourth to reach 50 passing touchdowns.

Another Clemson receiver commit made noise down in Texas. Julian Cromartie of The Woodlands had a huge night in a Friday victory over Conroe, catching four touchdowns.

The three-star 2027 pledge has been piling up big plays this fall, and Friday was another reminder of how dangerous he can be when the ball finds him. Athletic catches have become part of the routine, and this one added another eye-catching entry to his season.

Up front, Jaden Wuerth kept stuffing the stat sheet for Dutch Fork. The 2027 three-star defensive lineman has been a wrecking ball inside for the Silver Foxes, and his latest line is staggering: 15 sacks in eight games as Dutch Fork stays unbeaten at 8-0. Wuerth’s mix of power and pass-rush moves has made him a problem from the interior, and the numbers keep backing it up.

Clemson is also making headway with a 2028 target who has family ties to the program. Offensive tackle Brendan Hall, the son of former Clemson lineman Les Hall, was in Knoxville to see Tennessee’s upset of Alabama.

Hall also attended Clemson’s home opener against Georgia Southern and has called Clemson one of the top schools in his recruitment so far. He plans to return to campus for the South Carolina game later in November, and Virginia Tech and South Carolina are also standing out.

He wasn’t the only prospect in Knoxville, either. 2028 four-star defensive back Tyler Boyd, who recently picked up a Clemson offer, was also there for the Alabama game.

Clemson May Have Fixed Two Problem Areas At The Perfect Time

Clemsons win over Charleston Southern offered a useful snapshot of where the Tigers may be settling in after some early-season uncertainty. Easton Ware gave the offensive line a reason for optimism at right guard, while the special teams operation looked much sharper under new coach Rich Bisaccia. For a team trying to firm up its identity before the schedule gets tougher, those are the kinds of encouraging signs that can quietly matter a lot.

The bigger question is whether those improvements can hold up when the competition rises and the passing game is asked to do more. Clemson still looks limited through the air, and the development of quarterback Tait Reynolds remains one of the most important storylines on the roster. If the Tigers really have cleaned up two problem areas, the timing could be ideal, but the offense still has a long way to go before the rest of the picture comes into focus. [Read more 🡒]

Clemson May Be Getting A Timely QB Boost For Virginia Tech

Clemson may be getting a useful bit of quarterback depth back just in time for Virginia Tech, with Dabo Swinney offering an encouraging update on Christopher Vizzinas recovery from the elbow fracture he sustained in Week 2. Swinney said Vizzina turned in his best practice since the injury, a sign the redshirt freshman is moving in the right direction as the Tigers work through the final stretch of preparation.

Even if Vizzina is not part of the main offensive plan, having him available as an emergency option would matter for a position group that can never have enough insurance. The bigger picture is just as important: while hes been sidelined, Vizzina has remained a strong presence in the locker room, and Clemsons staff is watching closely to see whether that progress carries through the week. Clemson's ACC Hopes Could Come Down To A Messy Finish

Clemsons path through the ACC still has plenty of room to tighten, and with several league games left, the Tigers shot at the championship game may end up being decided by more than just wins and losses. At 4-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play, Clemson has put itself in the mix, but the margin for error is thin enough now that every remaining Saturday carries extra weight.

What makes the race even murkier is the leagues new tiebreaker setup for 2026, which leans on head-to-head results and overall body of work before leaving the final call in the hands of league officials if teams are still tied. Dabo Swinney said Clemsons win over Charleston Southern was the best game of the season, but the bigger test is still ahead, and the Tigers may not know their true position until the conference table gets messy at the finish.
