Opening Day is right around the corner, and for Cincinnati, it’s the highlight of the year. It’s not just about baseball; it’s a city-wide celebration that brings everyone together.
The Reds will launch their 2026 season on March 26 against the Boston Red Sox, with the first pitch at 4:10 p.m. at Great American Ball Park. But before the game, the city has a full day of festivities planned.
Kicking off the excitement is the annual Findlay Market Opening Day Parade in Over-the-Rhine, starting at noon. The parade begins at Findlay Market on Race Street, travels down to Fifth Street, and wraps up at Taft Theatre. This year, over 100 groups, including FC Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, are set to march, making it a can’t-miss event.
Leading the parade as grand marshal is former Reds pitcher and current broadcaster Jeff "The Cowboy" Brantley. Known for his stellar career and recent accolade as the 2025 Ohio Sportscaster of the Year, Brantley adds a touch of Reds history to the celebration.
Rain or shine, the parade will proceed unless the game itself is called off. So, bring your umbrella just in case!
For those looking to get into the spirit early, the Reds Community Fund Charity Block Party starts at 11 a.m. on Joe Nuxhall Way, Freedom Way, and Marian Spencer Way. It’s a free event featuring live music, entertainment, and plenty of food and drinks for purchase. Just remember to bring cash, as it’s the only accepted payment method.
And for the younger fans, Kids Opening Day is set for March 28, before the Reds face the Red Sox again at 4:10 p.m. The festivities begin with a red carpet parade at 11 a.m., where kids can meet Reds players and mascots. Plus, children 14 and under will receive a special Reds hat at the game, while supplies last.
So, whether you’re there for the baseball or the community spirit, Opening Day in Cincinnati promises to be an unforgettable experience.
