Big Ten Shakes Up OSU's Schedule Once Again

Fans will pack the stadium in scarlet as Ohio State gears up for a marquee clash against Oregon, set to light up the Buckeyes' home field under the CBS spotlight.

Ohio State’s Nov. 7 home matchup with Oregon will kick at 3:30 p.m. and air on CBS, the Big Ten announced Monday.

The Buckeyes had been expected to land in that window, and the conference made it official. The game is also being billed by Ohio State as its “Scarlet the Shoe” game, with fans asked to wear scarlet. That likely points to the Scarlet Rush uniforms making their first appearance this season, though Ohio State has not yet formally revealed its uniform combo.

CBS ended up using Week 10 as its top selection in the Big Ten’s TV draft, with FOX having already locked in Ohio State/Michigan, Michigan/Oklahoma and Ohio State/Indiana as its first three choices. That left CBS to target a Nov. 7 slate built around Ohio State and Oregon, a game that looked like one of the conference’s biggest coming into the year.

The Ducks have slipped from that expectation after Saturday’s loss to Illinois dropped them to 4-3, but the matchup still carries major appeal on television. Ohio State continues to draw the biggest weekly audience in college football, and this remains one of the most prominent games left on the regular-season schedule.

It won’t be a full-on night game for the Buckeyes, but the atmosphere should still shift late. Sunset will arrive around halftime once Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend, so the second half will be played under the lights.

If Ohio State fans are hoping for a true home night game, the next real shot comes Nov. 14 against Northwestern. The Buckeyes are expected to wear their all-black Tunnel Vision uniforms for that one, and the kickoff time will be announced next Monday unless the networks use one of their six-day holds.

Ohio State has controlled the series with Oregon, holding a 10-2 all-time edge. The teams last met in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the 2025 Rose Bowl, where the Buckeyes rolled to a 41-21 win on their way to a national title. Oregon, though, did win the most recent meeting in Columbus, beating Ohio State 35-28 in 2021.

Before that November home date, the Buckeyes head to the West Coast to face USC on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on NBC. Oregon, meanwhile, hosts Northwestern on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on Peacock.

Reds Could Have A Cheap Answer To Their Outfield Problem

The Reds are staring at a real outfield reset after last seasons group fell short, and the market may offer a short-term fix without forcing the club into a long commitment. Jim Bowden of The Athletic recently ranked free agents and pointed to Taylor Ward as a sensible match for Cincinnati, a player who could help stabilize the position while the front office figures out its longer-term plan.

Wards appeal is easy to see in the context of his recent track record, because he still showed enough at his best to draw attention from teams looking for a bounce-back candidate. But his path has also gotten a little messy, and after moving twice during the 2026 season, he arrives as the kind of buy-low option whose price should be manageable if the Reds decide his upside is worth the gamble. Dane Myers Just Made His Reds Outlook A Lot More Interesting

Dane Myers turned into one of the more useful depth pieces on the Reds roster in 2026, giving Cincinnati a steady late-game bat after arriving from the Marlins in a trade on Dec. 27, 2025. He appeared in a career-high 117 games, hit .257 with an .721 OPS and eight homers, and carved out a particularly useful role as a pinch-hitter, the kind of production that can quietly matter over the grind of a season.

Now the next chapter is less about what he already did and more about where he fits when the roster starts sorting itself out again. Myers had shoulder surgery after the season and is expected back for spring training 2027, where hell be in the mix for outfield playing time alongside JJ Bleday, Hector Rodriguez, Carlos Jorge and Noelvi Marte. Reds Face One Fascinating 40-Man Decision Fans Will Debate

The calendar may be messy, with the Rule 5 Draft expected to be pushed back if a lockout wipes out the Winter Meetings, but the Reds still have a roster puzzle to solve. Even with that uncertainty, the front office is expected to make room on the 40-man roster for several young players it wants to keep out of another clubs reach, a routine bit of business that can still say plenty about how the organization values its depth.

Carlos Sanchez, Jay Allen II, Cody Adcock and Bryce Hubbart are all in the mix as protection candidates, and Carter Graham looks like a near-lock to get a spot. Cam Collier, though, is the name that hangs over the whole discussion, because his status is the one that could make this winters roster decisions a lot more interesting for Cincinnati than it first appears.
