Trey Hendrickson Is Giving Bengals Fans A Revenge Game To Worry About

With tensions running high, Bengals must outmaneuver a motivated Trey Hendrickson, whom the Ravens expect to dominate on game day.

Sunday will give the Cincinnati Bengals their first shot at lining up against former pass rusher Trey Hendrickson, and one of his Baltimore Ravens teammates is already forecasting a big night.

Linebacker Trenton Simpson didn’t hold back on Wednesday when asked about Hendrickson facing his old team.

“Trey is a great leader, and he’s a guy who flies around,” Simpson said Wednesday. “And man, I am excited to see him against his former team.

The things he’s doing in practice, the way he rushed the passer, and just how he’d get off the ball. And I believe that this game for him is about to be like one of those multiple-sack games.

So I’m calling it. I’m excited to see the celebration he does, so I’m excited.”

Hendrickson has been out for two games this season after breaking a finger and having surgery. If Simpson’s prediction turns into reality, it would be Hendrickson’s first multiple-sack game in Baltimore. He has two sacks so far.

He also flashed last week against the Cleveland Browns, creating steady pressure on a rookie left tackle and finishing with a sack.

How Cincinnati handles him in pass protection will be worth watching. The Bengals may also lean on the run game and test him directly.

That’s been one of the long-running critiques of Hendrickson: teams could run at him and find success. That became even more noticeable as the rest of the defense around him slipped.

There’s no question Hendrickson will come into this one carrying plenty of extra motivation. He made his frustration with the front office very public, and he didn’t shy away from talking about the contract drama that filled his offseason. That has left a sour impression with many fans.

Bengals Trade Deadline Outlook Starts With These Struggling Teams

With the Bengals sitting at 3-2 and still last in the AFC North after their bye week, the trade deadline conversation already has a practical edge to it. Cincinnati does not need a full overhaul, but it could use help in the right spots, which is why the search starts with teams that are stumbling and may be more willing to listen before the deadline closes in.

That means looking beyond the usual contenders and into the kind of rosters that can produce available veterans if the season keeps slipping away. The Washington Commanders, Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins all come into focus in that scan, and the Bengals are the sort of team that should be paying attention to any useful piece that becomes reachable, even if no move has materialized yet. Bengals Suddenly Face Trade Questions Around A Young First Round Defender

Trade chatter has started to follow a young Bengals defender whose rookie-year promise still has teams around the league paying attention. ESPNs Jeremy Fowler reported that Cincinnati edge rusher Shemar Stewart is being monitored by multiple clubs ahead of the trade deadline, a notable development for a player whose upside remains part of the conversation even as his early NFL workload has been limited by injury.

The timing makes the situation worth watching from Cincinnatis side, especially with the deadline approaching and roster decisions getting harder to avoid. Fowler also mentioned former Bengals safety Jessie Bates III as a name of interest, though a deal there appears unlikely, leaving Stewart as the more intriguing piece in the background as teams assess whether the Bengals would listen.
