Joe Burrow was back in the tunnel on Sunday, and the Bengals quarterback’s first game-day look of 2026 made its point without needing much help.
Arriving at Paycor Stadium for Cincinnati’s Week 1 opener, Burrow kept things clean and understated: a loose black short-sleeve shirt, wide-leg cream trousers, a black belt and black shoes. Glasses on, water bottle in hand, he walked through the stadium hallway before turning his attention to the real job ahead.
Cincinnati clearly knew the moment it had on its hands. The team posted a four-second arrival clip on X with the caption, “QB1 fit check,” and the video had already drawn more than 3 million views within hours on Sunday.
That kind of reaction has become part of the Burrow experience. His pregame arrivals have turned into a weekly event in Cincinnati, even if the quarterback has never made them easy to predict.
“My sense of style varies day-to-day,” Burrow told Sports Illustrated in 2025. “I wake up, feel the color and find the fit that matches what I’m looking for.”
This time, the color story was mostly black and cream. Instead of the bolder prints, brighter suits or louder statements he’s worn before, Burrow leaned into a simpler palette and let the oversized cut of the trousers do the heavy lifting.
The attention around his tunnel walk is nothing new. Burrow has become one of the NFL’s most visible style names, with appearances at the Met Gala and Paris Fashion Week, plus a cover spot on Sports Illustrated’s 2025 Style Issue.
He’s also made clear he understands why the pregame runway matters.
“I think more young women, or people who might not have known or cared about football at all beforehand, are paying attention to what people are wearing in the tunnel,” Burrow told SI earlier this year. “I do think it brings more fans, honestly.”
After the fit check came the football. Cincinnati opened the 2026 season against Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Paycor Stadium, kicking off Burrow’s seventh NFL season.
The game also matched up two former No. 1 overall picks at quarterback, with Mayfield going first to the Cleveland Browns in 2018 and Cincinnati taking Burrow at No. 1 two years later.
For Burrow and the Bengals, it was the start of another season with bigger expectations than a Week 1 runway moment. But as far as the tunnel goes, the first episode of the year was already a hit.
