The NFL certainly knows how to keep us on the edge of our seats, and the latest drama involving the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens is no exception. Late Tuesday night, the Raiders announced that a trade involving star defensive end Maxx Crosby had fallen through.
The details are murky, but reports suggest the Ravens backed out due to concerns over Crosby's medical evaluation. As a result, Crosby stays put in Las Vegas, and the Ravens hold onto their two first-round picks.
With the Crosby trade off the table, the Ravens quickly shifted gears and signed Trey Hendrickson, who hit free agency after the Bengals opted not to use the franchise tag on him. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Hendrickson has inked a four-year deal worth up to $120 million, keeping him in the AFC North. But as we've seen, nothing is set in stone until the new league year kicks off.
In the midst of all this, Bengals star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase took to social media with a cryptic post, hinting at disbelief over the situation. It's not hard to imagine why-Hendrickson, once his teammate, will now be lining up against him twice a year as a Raven.
Chase and Hendrickson have been key figures for the Bengals since 2021. Chase has consistently topped 1,000 receiving yards each season, while Hendrickson has delivered back-to-back 17.5-sack seasons. In 2024, alongside quarterback Joe Burrow, they made history by leading the league in their respective categories.
Despite their individual brilliance, the Bengals have missed the playoffs for three consecutive years. With Hendrickson now a Raven, the road ahead in the fiercely competitive AFC North just got a little rockier for Cincinnati.
