The Jonathan Taylor trade talk is starting to pick up, and the Colts’ rough start is the reason why.
Indianapolis is sitting at 2-4, and after losing Daniel Jones to a season-ending injury during what had been its best stretch of the 2025 season, the team has not bounced back. The Colts made several win-now moves in the offseason to give the former New York Giants quarterback the best chance to push for contention, but the results have not followed.
That has opened the door to speculation about Taylor, who remains productive even as the team slides. Through six games, he has 122 carries for 492 yards and seven touchdowns.
He is still performing at an elite level, which is exactly why his name is coming up in trade chatter. If Indianapolis decides to move him, there would be no shortage of interest.
The Colts’ situation has also shifted off the field. The AFC South team fired general manager Chris Ballard and is reportedly looking to replace him with Peyton Manning. That change could signal the start of a new era in Indianapolis.
On Monday, NFL Rumors on X reported that “several teams” have already called the Colts about Taylor. The same account pointed to the Cincinnati Bengals and the Seattle Seahawks as the two teams to watch most closely in a possible deal.
Seattle’s interest makes sense based on need. The Seahawks placed Jadarian Price on injured reserve after he was hurt against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2 and then aggravated the issue before the Los Angeles Chargers game in Week 4. Taylor would give that backfield a jolt after losing Zach Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker III.
The Bengals also fit the profile of a team that could benefit from a player like Taylor. Their main backs are Chase Brown and Samaje Perine, but their production does not match what Taylor has been giving the Colts. Putting him alongside Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins would raise the ceiling of that offense immediately.
Marissa Myers of TWSN also mentioned the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots as other possible landing spots.
For now, this is still rumor territory. But if the Colts keep stumbling, it would not be a shock to see Taylor moved.

Bengals Face A Trade Deadline Question Their Secondary May Force
With the Bengals navigating a wave of defensive injuries, the trade deadline has started to feel less like a formality and more like a possible fix. Cincinnati has been linked to the idea of adding help to the secondary, and Los Angeles safety Derwin James has emerged as the kind of versatile player who could matter on the back end and in the box if the team decides to make a move.
James brings the sort of name and skill set that would draw attention anywhere, even if the situation in Los Angeles makes a deal more complicated than it looks on paper. The Chargers have their own issues as they try to steady a struggling season, and any discussion around a deadline splash comes with the reality that nothing has been confirmed. For the Bengals, the question is whether the need in the secondary pushes them from monitoring the market to actually acting on it. [Read more 🡒]
Bengals Have A Special Teams Problem Beyond Their Star Kicker
Evan McPherson has given the Bengals a stabilizing presence in a season when so much around him has felt uneven. His reliable kicking has helped keep Cincinnati afloat in tight spots, but the bigger special teams picture has been far less tidy, with the punt and kickoff units leaving too many openings for opponents to take advantage of. Costly penalties, coverage breakdowns and mishandled returns have repeatedly turned routine snaps into hidden-yardage losses.
Ryan Rehkows production has also been part of the concern, as his average punt distance has lagged behind the better legs around the league. For a team trying to stay competitive, those issues matter because special teams errors do not just change field position, they can swing momentum and put stress on the rest of the roster. Cincinnati has the kind of kicking game that should be an asset, but the rest of the operation has not always done McPherson or the Bengals many favors. [Read more 🡒]
Bengals Face One Trade Deadline Question In Their Backfield
The Bengals are keeping an eye on the running back market as the trade deadline approaches, and one name that has surfaced is Cam Skattebo of the Giants. Cincinnati has the draft capital to make a move if it wants to shore up a backfield that could use some extra insulation, and Skattebos contract situation makes him an appealing piece for a team looking beyond just a short-term rental.
What makes him interesting is the blend of cost control and unfinished upside. He has shown enough production this season to stay on the radar, yet his role in New York has changed enough to make the conversation real. For the Bengals, the question is whether they want to act before the deadline, or trust the group they already have and save those picks for another need. [Read more 🡒]
