Bengals Suddenly Have A Depth Problem Heading Into Jaguars Week

As the Cincinnati Bengals confront a daunting injury list ahead of their crucial game against the Jaguars, key players' participation remains uncertain, presenting both challenges and opportunities for the team.

The Bengals’ Wednesday practice brought the first wave of injury designations for a roster still dealing with a long list of concerns heading into the Jaguars matchup.

Dalton Risner was the newest addition to the report. He’s working through a knee injury and did not practice.

Cincinnati also listed Kyle Dugger (quad), Colbie Young (knee), and B.J. Hill (Achilles) as did not practice. Bryan Cook (ankle) and Jordan Battle (hamstring) were limited.

The mix of absences and limitations puts more strain on the secondary and the wide receiver room, two spots Cincinnati is already watching closely. With Jalen Davis on injured reserve, Tacario Davis is in line for a heavier workload in practice and beyond.

“I think he's got room for improvement, but he's got the right attitude about it,” Taylor said about Davis this week. “He's three games into his career, and so he just has to continue to improve every single week.

And so there are challenges he's going to face in whatever role he plays every week and whatever plays he gets. He's got to do a great job, obviously, with his hands.

He's had a couple of those grab penalties that have gotten us. But I'm confident he'll keep improving.

Again, he comes in here, works at it, wants to be really good, takes the coaching. Three games in, he's going to continue to get better.”

Taylor also pointed to a near takeaway from Davis, saying, “He got his hands on that ball, almost picked it off there in the fourth quarter. So I think over his career, he's going to make a lot of those plays.

And when you get a tall guy like that, the change of direction isn't going to be DJ Turner, in his size. But when you face corners like that, their length can make it really difficult, especially on the vertical stuff.

And he can recover quickly and get his hands on throws like you've seen him do over training camp in the preseason games, like he did yesterday on that play, and so again, just got to be disciplined with his feet and his hands, and we'll continue to improve that.”

Cincinnati still has two more practices this week as it tries to get healthier and keep itself above .500 while staying in the AFC North race.

Bengals Linebacker Struggles Just Reopened A Familiar Reunion Debate

After a rough defensive showing, a familiar name popped right back into the conversation for Cincinnati. Germaine Pratt, the former Bengals linebacker and team captain, responded on social media to fan chatter about bringing him back, reminding everyone that his connection to the franchise never really faded even after he moved on to the Raiders and Colts last season.

The backdrop here is a linebacker room that could use some steadiness, especially with a young group still trying to find its footing. Pratt spent part of the offseason as a coaching assistant, which only added to the sense that a reunion would not be a wild idea, but a practical one if Cincinnati wants more veteran leadership in the middle of the defense. Andrei Iosivas Rumored Relationship Just Sparked A Very Relatable Bengals Complaint

Andrei Iosivas has become part of an offseason conversation in Cincinnati for more than what he does on the field. Reports tying the Bengals wide receiver to social media influencer Gia Duddy have circulated since training camp, and Duddys own posts have added fuel to the chatter, including a vlog from the teams practice facility and a glimpse at her life around the city.

What has resonated most with Bengals fans, though, is a complaint that feels almost too familiar in an NFL town: Duddy said she has been frustrated by losing friends because of trades. It is the kind of side effect that comes with the leagues constant churn, and it has only amplified the attention around a relationship neither the Bengals nor the people involved have confirmed publicly. Bengals Have A Growing Dexter Lawrence Concern Officials Arent Fixing

Through the first three games, Dexter Lawrence has already become a problem teams are trying to solve with extra bodies and creative protection plans, and the Bengals have noticed how much attention the disruptive defensive tackle is drawing. Opposing offenses have leaned on double teams to slow him down, a sign of how quickly he can wreck a game when he gets free.

The bigger concern came from the Steelers, who used a blocking technique that involved grabbing and lifting Lawrences leg, a tactic that appears to run afoul of NFL holding rules and carries obvious injury risk. Lawrence and the Bengals have raised the issue, but the lack of a flag has left the door open to whether other teams will try it too, and whether officials will eventually step in before it becomes a wider problem.
