Bengals Free Agency Analysis
The Cincinnati Bengals are making strategic moves this offseason, focusing on key players they view as essential for their future. Among those are cornerbacks DJ Turner and Dax Hill, who are seen as high-priority players within the organization. While extension talks haven't begun, it's expected that negotiations will pick up steam as training camp approaches.
On the defensive front, Boye Mafe was Cincinnati's top target at defensive end, highlighting the team's commitment to strengthening their pass rush. When it came to bolstering their interior defense, the Bengals aimed for Jonathan Allen, especially after realizing that John Franklin-Myers was beyond their budget.
With Allen on board, the Bengals plan to utilize TJ Slaton and B.J. Hill as run-stoppers, with Allen adding pressure from the interior.
The Bengals are also aware of the need to enhance their cornerback group and are likely to address this during the early rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft. Although they considered adding a linebacker, the signings of Allen, Mafe, and safety Bryan Cook have shifted their priorities.
Bengals Draft and Prospect Visits
Cincinnati is actively scouting talent, having conducted formal interviews with Arizona cornerback Treydan Stukes at the Combine. They're also looking into local talent, with linebacker Jake Golday scheduled for a visit. Other prospects on their radar include Ohio State's defensive tackle Kayden McDonald, Texas linebackers Anthony Hill Jr. and Trey Moore, and Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles, all of whom have engaged with the Bengals in various capacities.
Ravens and DeAndre Hopkins
Meanwhile, veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins remains a free agent after completing a one-year, $5 million stint with the Ravens. In a recent interview, Hopkins expressed openness to a similar contract for the upcoming season, indicating he's content with the financial terms he had last year. This openness could make him an attractive option for teams looking to add experience and skill to their receiving corps.
As the offseason progresses, both the Bengals and Ravens are positioning themselves strategically, each making moves that could significantly impact their performance in the upcoming season.
