The Bengals’ linebacker room has been a sore spot, and after a rough Week 3 loss to the Steelers, one familiar name has stepped right back into the conversation.
Germaine Pratt, who spent years in Cincinnati and became a key piece of the Bengals’ defense, responded on X to fans pushing for a reunion. He pointed to the impact of the team’s improved defensive line and backed up his point with a clip of a tackle for loss from Cincinnati’s 2024 win over the Cowboys.
"I know... the dline will get double team and results," Pratt responded on X.
That naturally raises the question: should the Bengals bring back the 30-year-old linebacker?
Pratt was a major part of the defense that helped Cincinnati reach back-to-back AFC championship games in 2021 and 2022. His most memorable moment in a Bengals uniform came in the 2021 wild card game, when he intercepted Raiders quarterback Derek Carr to help deliver the franchise’s first postseason win in three decades.
His value inside the locker room was clear, too. Teammates voted him a captain in 2024, a sign of the respect he had built as a leader. Even so, Cincinnati moved on from Pratt the following offseason after the defense struggled to develop talent following the departures of Jessie Bates and DJ Reader.
Since then, Pratt has bounced around. He played for the Raiders and Colts last season, and also spent time this offseason as a coaching assistant at NC State. In 16 games last year - four with the Raiders and 12 with the Colts - he finished with 126 tackles.
There’s at least a case that he could still help in Cincinnati. With the additions up front and Bryan Cook at safety, Pratt could be positioned to contribute at a respectable level again. He would also bring a veteran presence in a role similar to what Josh Bynes provided in 2020, when Pratt was in his second season and Logan Wilson was a rookie.
That kind of help looks especially relevant now. Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight Jr. both need a veteran alongside them, and both have had a rough start to their sophomore seasons. Carter, in particular, was picked on by the Steelers and was part of a glaring missed tackle on tight end Darnell Washington.
Pratt may no longer be in his prime, but he could still offer some stability to a young linebacker group if the Bengals decide to make the move.

Andrei Iosivas Rumored Relationship Just Sparked A Very Relatable Bengals Complaint
Andrei Iosivas has become part of an offseason conversation in Cincinnati for more than what he does on the field. Reports tying the Bengals wide receiver to social media influencer Gia Duddy have circulated since training camp, and Duddys own posts have added fuel to the chatter, including a vlog from the teams practice facility and a glimpse at her life around the city.
What has resonated most with Bengals fans, though, is a complaint that feels almost too familiar in an NFL town: Duddy said she has been frustrated by losing friends because of trades. It is the kind of side effect that comes with the leagues constant churn, and it has only amplified the attention around a relationship neither the Bengals nor the people involved have confirmed publicly. Bengals Have A Growing Dexter Lawrence Concern Officials Arent Fixing
Through the first three games, Dexter Lawrence has already become a problem teams are trying to solve with extra bodies and creative protection plans, and the Bengals have noticed how much attention the disruptive defensive tackle is drawing. Opposing offenses have leaned on double teams to slow him down, a sign of how quickly he can wreck a game when he gets free.
The bigger concern came from the Steelers, who used a blocking technique that involved grabbing and lifting Lawrences leg, a tactic that appears to run afoul of NFL holding rules and carries obvious injury risk. Lawrence and the Bengals have raised the issue, but the lack of a flag has left the door open to whether other teams will try it too, and whether officials will eventually step in before it becomes a wider problem. Bengals Bring Back A 2021 Fan Favorite And Reopen Old Debate
The Bengals are leaning into a little 2021 nostalgia for their Week 4 home game against Jacksonville, tapping former tight end C.J. Uzomah as the Ruler of the Jungle to help set the tone at Paycor Stadium. It is a fitting choice for a player whose Cincinnati run included a key role in that pivotal Jaguars game and a spot in the clubs Super Bowl push, making him one of the more familiar faces from that stretch for fans still fond of the run.
Uzomahs return to the building also brings some edge to the moment, because his post-Cincinnati exit came with criticism of the organization before he later retired as a Bengal and reaffirmed his lifelong support for the team. So while the pregame spotlight should be all about energy and memory, it also quietly reopens an old conversation about how the Bengals handle former contributors and how those relationships look once the applause fades.
