Cincinnati Bengals star wideout Ja'Marr Chase is expanding his game off the field. This spring, he’s stepping into the media spotlight with the launch of a new sports talk show titled Chasing No 1, set to air weekly on Overtime.
Chase made the announcement alongside teammate and fellow Bengals receiver Tee Higgins during appearances on Up and Adams and The Pat McAfee Show on February 4. The show promises to blend sports, entertainment, and culture, with each 45-minute episode featuring high-profile guests from across those worlds. But this isn’t just another athlete-hosted podcast - Chase is aiming to give fans a real insider’s perspective, offering a front-row seat to the biggest storylines shaping today’s game.
And if Sunday’s Pro Bowl Games were any indication, Chase is already in midseason form - both on the field and in front of the camera.
Early in the first quarter, Chase found himself playing on the defensive side of the ball - not exactly his usual assignment. But he made the most of it, jumping a route and picking off Jared Goff, then taking it to the house for a touchdown. He punctuated the moment with a celebratory backflip, reminding everyone that even in a relaxed Pro Bowl setting, he’s still a showman.
The mic caught up with Chase and quarterback Joe Burrow during the second quarter, as ESPN’s Michelle Beisner-Buck checked in for a sideline interview. Burrow, ever the teammate, couldn’t resist poking fun at Chase for his reluctance to lay the wood on defense, joking about his aversion to tackling. It was classic Burrow-Chase banter - the kind of chemistry that’s made them one of the most electric duos in the league.
Higgins, meanwhile, made his own impact on the game. He hauled in a pass over the middle from Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders and followed it up with a catch on the AFC’s extra point attempt after Courtland Sutton’s touchdown. Later in the quarter, Bengals veteran Joe Flacco - yes, that Joe Flacco - found Higgins in the end zone for a touchdown, capping off a strong showing for the Cincinnati receivers.
Between the Pro Bowl highlights and the upcoming talk show, it’s clear Chase and Higgins are staying busy this offseason - and not just with workouts. Chasing No 1 looks poised to give fans a fresh, unfiltered look at the league from two guys who live it every day. And if their on-field chemistry is any indication, their dynamic in front of the camera should be just as entertaining.
