Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith will not be fined by the NFL for the hip-drop tackle he made on Cincinnati Bengals tight end Erick All Jr. in their Week 7 game at M&T Bank Stadium.
The league did not announce any fines from the Bengals-Ravens matchup.
All, a former Fairfield High School standout, suffered a knee injury on the play in the third quarter. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Oct. 28 that the injury was a torn ACL.
The Bengals had already moved All to the Reserve/Injured list one day earlier and signed former Bengals tight end Cam Grandy off Minnesota’s practice squad.
"You know, losing a guy like Erick, who brought a lot of toughness to what we do, and losing Tanner (Hudson), who plays a lot of different roles for us, really," Burrow said Oct. 28. "Those are two huge losses for us that … you can't really replace with just two guys," Burrow continued.
Smith also dealt with an injury of his own in the game. He was down at the end of a fourth-quarter play after tackling Bengals running back Chase Brown, but he later returned.
Smith has also been part of the conversation around Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow before. In 2023, he said Burrow's wrist injury was something that sometimes happens "when you play the Ravens' (defense)."
"You know, he's a great player," Smith said of Burrow. "I've got a lot of respect for him, the way he plays the game. But, hey, injury's part of the game so, you know, when you play the Ravens' D, sometimes things like that happen."

Zac Taylor Had The Perfect Reaction To A Trade Bengals Fans Loved
Zac Taylor had a little extra reason to smile after the Bears landed Jeffery Simmons from Tennessee, and he made sure his brother Press knew it. Press Taylor, Chicagos offensive coordinator, said Zac called him to talk through the move, which figures to give the Bears a real boost on defense, especially up front where the pass rush can change games in a hurry.
From Cincinnatis side, the appeal is obvious too. Any time a contender in the AFC loses a disruptive defender off the schedule, it catches the attention of a coach preparing for the next stretch of games. Both brothers had a lighthearted take on the deal ahead of their teams upcoming matchups, and for Bengals fans, the best part may be that their head coach sounded like he appreciated the timing just as much as the rest of them did. Bengals Running Back Search Just Got Much Tougher Than Fans Hoped
The market for running back help just got a lot more complicated, and Cincinnati is watching from the same uncomfortable place as everyone else. Indianapolis has reportedly already turned down a trade offer for Jonathan Taylor that included multiple draft picks, a sign that any team trying to pry him loose is going to have to pay a premium. With the Broncos, Packers, Vikings, Giants and Seahawks all said to be interested, the bidding could turn into exactly the kind of expensive chase the Bengals would rather avoid.
For Cincinnati, the issue is not just need, but price. Taylor would bring name value and upside, but the cost is shaping up to be steep enough that the Bengals are unlikely to jump in. Instead, they may have to look for a more realistic fit on the trade market, with Tony Pollard emerging as the kind of option that better matches their budget and roster priorities. [Read more 🡒]
Bengals Trade Deadline Buzz Centers On One Intriguing Defensive Gamble
With the NFL trade deadline approaching, the Bengals are being mentioned as a team that could look to add help on defense, even with some depth already in place at defensive end. NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks floated Cincinnati as a possible fit in the market, a sign the club could at least kick the tires if a deal makes sense for the right price.
The name attached to that speculation is an intriguing one, with the Jets carrying a surplus at edge rusher and a player in the mix who has shown disruptive ability. For Cincinnati, the appeal would be obvious: a chance to add another pass-rush piece without paying full retail, even if the front office has to decide how aggressive it wants to be before the deadline.
