The Cincinnati Bengals have been laser-focused on revamping their defense this offseason, with key signings like Boye Mafe, Bryan Cook, and Jonathan Allen. But don’t think for a second they’re ignoring the offensive side of the ball. Tight end is a particular area of interest, even with Mike Gesicki and Tanner Hudson in the fold and Erick All Jr. working his way back from injury.
The Bengals have a longstanding connection with the University of Georgia, and it seems they're eyeing another Bulldog talent. Reports indicate that James Casey, the respected tight ends coach, was front and center at Oscar Delp’s Pro Day.
Delp put on a show, impressing with his speed and athleticism in the 40-yard dash, broad jump, and vertical leap. Initially pegged as a Day 3 pick, his standout performance might just elevate him into Day 2 discussions.
However, Delp’s college stats don’t exactly jump off the page. He hasn’t hit 25 receptions in a season, nor has he surpassed 300 receiving yards, with a single-season high of four touchdowns. Despite these numbers, his durability is notable-55 games over four seasons at Georgia.
This performance is likely to send scouts back to the film room, trying to reconcile his workout with his game tape. Delp might just be one of those hidden gems, reminiscent of players like Antonio Gates and Jimmy Graham, who exceeded expectations despite modest college production.
Cincinnati’s current tight end roster is solid. Gesicki offers a versatile threat, and Hudson has been a reliable target for Bengals quarterbacks. While All is a bit of an unknown due to injuries, his potential when healthy is undeniable.
If the Bengals are wrapping up their defensive upgrades and feeling confident, Delp could be a valuable addition to their offensive arsenal. Strengthening an already potent offense might just be a key part of their 2026 strategy, alongside a defensive resurgence.
