The first look at Jerrod Calhoun’s Cincinnati team came with plenty of noise on both ends of the floor, and the Bearcats made sure the scoreboard reflected it. In their Bahamas opener Tuesday afternoon at Baha Mar in Nassau, Cincinnati rolled past Victoria, 110-63, in an exhibition game at the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League.
It was the first game on the sideline for Calhoun and the first game together on the floor for 13 new Bearcats, and the group delivered a performance built on defense, ball movement and a steady stream of transition chances. Every Bearcat scored, and seven players finished in double figures.
MJ Collins led the way with 15 points, while Adlan Elamin added 14. Myles Colvin scored 12, Elijah Perryman and Trevian Carson had 11 apiece, and Eric Mahaffey and Riley Allenspach each chipped in 10. Elamin also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, Akai Fleming handed out a team-best eight assists, and Colvin, Mahaffey and Jayden Hastings each came away with four steals.
“I thought we played the right way,” Calhoun said. “I thought we shared it well but didn’t make all the shots we would have wanted.
For the most part, we were organized, but probably the best thing I saw was guys cheering for one another. These guys are starting to come together and bond, understand who they are and play to their strengths.”
Cincinnati never let Victoria settle in after the opening minutes. The Vikes grabbed a 5-4 lead early, but the Bearcats responded by forcing eight turnovers in the first five minutes and ripping off a 13-0 run. That burst put Cincinnati in front 17-5 after an Allenspach layup at the 14:36 mark.
The pressure only got worse for Victoria from there. Cincinnati hit four of its first eight shots from beyond the arc and turned 20 first-half turnovers into 31 points on the way to a 55-22 halftime cushion.
The numbers from the opening 20 minutes tell the story. The Bearcats shot 50% from the field, held Victoria to 26.9% shooting and got all 14 players onto the floor before the break.
Collins and Elamin each scored nine points in the half, while Colvin and Mahaffey added eight apiece. Cincinnati also assisted on 16 of its 21 made field goals, a sign of how well the offense was moving.
The second half followed the same script. Cincinnati kept the defensive pressure high, kept turning stops into easy points and stretched the lead to a game-high 50 at 103-53 with under four minutes left.
By the end of the afternoon, Cincinnati had shot 51.8% from the field, gone 44-for-85 overall, forced 32 turnovers and owned a 45-31 edge on the glass.

Bearcats Left Side Is Earning The Kind Of Respect Fans Crave
The left side of Cincinnatis offensive line is starting to draw the kind of attention that usually only comes after a unit has done the hard part for a while. Evan Tengesdahl and Joe Cotton were both named to the 2026 Outland Trophy Watchlist, a nod that puts the Bearcats pair among the nations top interior line candidates and reflects how much respect their work has earned heading into the fall.
Tengesdahl was Pro Football Focus highest-graded guard last season and picked up third-team AP All-American honors, while Cotton held down left tackle for all 13 games. For Cincinnati, the recognition is more than just a preseason line on a release, because it suggests the Bearcats protection and run-game foundation could again be built on that edge.
