Cincinnati offensive lineman Evan Tengesdahl has picked up another preseason honor, landing on the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s Preseason All-America second team on Tuesday.
The redshirt junior was the only Big 12 offensive lineman to make the list, adding to a growing stack of preseason recognition. Tengesdahl has already been named a preseason All-American by Phil Steele, On3, and Athlon Sports.
His 2025 numbers help explain the buzz. Tengesdahl posted an 82.8 PFF rating, the best mark among Big 12 guards and sixth nationally at the position. He also played a key role in a Cincinnati line that earned semifinalist status for the Joe Moore Award, which goes to the top offensive line in college football.
The Bearcats are bringing back a group that should be one of the strongest in the country. Cincinnati allowed just eight sacks and 43 tackles for loss in 2025, both the fewest among Power Four teams. That unit also returns all-conference linemen Joe Cotton and Taran Tyo.
With Tengesdahl, Tyo, and Cotton back in place, Cincinnati is set to lean on what looks like a major strength heading into 2026. The Bearcats will be protecting transfer quarterback JC French, who is stepping into the helm of one of the Big 12’s most productive offenses.
On the other side of the ball, first-year defensive coordinator Nate Woody will install a new-look scheme around linebackers Antwan Peek Jr. of Cincinnati and Jonathan Thompson of Columbus. The 2026 Walter Camp All-America squad will be the 137th edition of the oldest All-America team in college football.

Bearcats Make A Crucial Move For Coveted Local Guard
A key local backcourt target is lining up a busy fall slate, and Cincinnati is firmly in the mix. Four-star 2027 guard Josh Tyson has official visits set with the Bearcats, Xavier, Ohio State and Virginia Tech, with a possible Michigan State stop still being worked on, a sign that his recruitment is already drawing plenty of regional and national attention. Tyson, ranked 65th nationally in his class, also spent time on the U18 USA Basketball Training Camp roster this summer, which only adds to the profile surrounding the Cincinnati product.
For the Bearcats, staying in the hunt with Tyson matters not just because he is local, but because the class of 2027 board is starting to take shape early. Cincinnati is also pursuing another highly regarded guard in Antonio Pemberton, who recently picked up an offer and arrives with a deep list of suitors, including programs such as Auburn, Utah and Florida State. Taken together, it points to a staff pushing hard to secure high-end guard talent before the race for it gets even tighter. [Read more 🡒]
Brendan Sorsbys NFL Wait Just Took A Brutal New Turn
Brendan Sorsbys path to the NFL has taken another detour, and this one pushes his timeline back even further. After the league decided not to hold a supplemental draft for him in 2026, Sorsby confirmed he will not pursue litigation over his entry into the league, closing off one possible avenue as he tries to move forward.
The NFL and NFLPA have now made his status clear: he will be treated as draft-eligible for the 2027 NFL Draft and cannot sign an NFL contract until after that process. For a player trying to rebuild his standing, the next year-plus is about staying on track and preparing for the chance that still remains, even if the wait just got a lot longer. [Read more 🡒]
