As the Chicago White Sox gear up for the 2026 season, their top prospects are getting ready to kick off their minor league assignments. INF Colby Shelton
Drafted in the 6th round last year, Shelton made his debut with a 27-game stint in Kannapolis. At 23, he’s already shown flashes of brilliance at the University of Florida, where he hit 20 homers in 2024 and batted .377 in 2025.
The challenge now is finding a balance between power and average. Although he struggled with a .172 slugging percentage at the end of 2025, the potential is there.
Starting the season back in Kannapolis, Shelton could quickly rise if he finds consistency. A standout performance against the Dodgers prospects would be a great kick-off.
RHP Jackson Kelley
Picked up from the Texas Rangers in the minor league Rule 5 draft, Kelley doesn’t have the pressure of being added to the 26-man roster. The 25-year-old reliever has been reliable, posting a 2.40 ERA in Double-A last year despite being limited to 34.1 innings due to injury. With a likely start at Triple-A, a strong showing in the Spring Breakout game could fast-track him to the majors.
INF Javier Mogollon
Though ranked 13th among White Sox prospects, Mogollon deserves more attention. The 20-year-old Venezuelan has been with the organization since 2023, boasting an OPS over .900 in his first two rookie seasons.
Despite a dip to .734 in Kannapolis last year, partly due to injuries, his offensive potential is undeniable. Starting in Kannapolis again, Mogollon is poised for a breakout season if he stays healthy.
