Investigative journalist Pablo Torre says Kawhi Leonard’s off-court money trail with the Clippers may go beyond the Aspiration scandal.
Torre, who broke the original Aspiration story in the summer of 2025, has now uncovered what he describes as another hidden sponsorship arrangement tied to Leonard and Los Angeles. This time, the company at the center of the reporting is Daktronics, the firm behind the Clippers’ Halo Board at the Intuit Dome.
The Clippers began using the Intuit Dome in August 2024, and one of its signature features is that massive circular jumbotron, a double-sided 4K halo-shaped video screen built by Daktronics. According to Torre’s sources, that connection is not just architectural. He says Leonard had a hidden multimillion-dollar “sponsorship” with the company.
On his Pablo Torre Finds Out show, Torre said, "This Kawhi deal was not just talked about by higher-ups with the Clippers to circumvent the salary cap... This second source was also told that Kawhi's Daktronics sponsorship was a multimillion-dollar deal," Torre revealed on his Pablo Torre Finds Out show.
The latest reporting adds another layer of trouble for Leonard and the Clippers, who are already dealing with the fallout from the Aspiration situation. It also brings the Raptors back into the conversation, though only in the sense that they missed out on the player. For Los Angeles and Leonard, though, Torre’s reporting points to a second salary cap circumvention issue that could carry serious consequences if it holds up under NBA scrutiny.
