Josh Giddey Stuns Cavaliers With Record-Breaking Assists Total

Josh Giddey continues to rewrite record books with his extraordinary playmaking skills, setting new benchmarks for the Chicago Bulls.

Josh Giddey is carving out his own legacy with the Chicago Bulls, even as the team navigates the challenging waters of a rebuild. Recently, he surpassed none other than Michael Jordan with his 29th triple-double, setting a new franchise record. That's a milestone worth celebrating, as it cements Giddey's unique place in Bulls history.

In Thursday's matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Giddey didn't just play; he made history. Despite the Bulls trailing 61-45 at halftime, Giddey's passing prowess was on full display.

He dished out 12 assists in the first half, the most by any Chicago player since the 1997-98 season during the Play-by-Play era. That's a testament to his vision and playmaking ability.

This isn't Giddey's first rodeo when it comes to setting records in a single half. Just last February, he put up an eye-popping stat line against the Philadelphia 76ers, becoming the first player since the 1996-97 season to record 17 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks by halftime. Back then, the Bulls were leading the 76ers at the break.

This season, Giddey has been a consistent force for Chicago, playing in 47 games and averaging 17.7 points, 8.8 assists, and 8.4 rebounds per game. However, the Bulls are 28-41 and have struggled recently, dropping six of their last ten games.

Giddey joined the Bulls in the 2024-25 season following a trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder and secured his future with a four-year, $100 million contract last summer. As the Bulls look to finish March strong, they have one more home game on the horizon against the Houston Rockets on Monday. Giddey will undoubtedly be a key player to watch as he continues to make his mark in Chicago.
