Blackhawks Just Dropped A Chicago-Themed Look Fans Will Debate

The Chicago Blackhawks are set to debut their new Hometown Remix sweaters-a tribute to the city's rich history and culture-in an upcoming game against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Chicago Blackhawks are bringing a new look to the ice, and they’re wasting no time showing it off. The club unveiled its Hometown Remix uniform Monday morning in collaboration with the NHL and Fanatics, and the sweater will make its on-ice debut tonight against the Colorado Avalanche at the United Center.

The design is built around Chicago itself. Across the league, the Hometown Remix uniforms were created to reflect each team’s city and fanbase through local landmarks, motifs and culture. For the Blackhawks, that means a jersey rooted in franchise history and Chicago tradition.

The team’s version includes a lace-up collar inspired by Blackhawks sweaters from the 1960s, sleeve striping that references the 1961 Stanley Cup championship team, and the “I Will” motto placed inside the hem. The Blackhawks also highlighted the Chicago stars embossed on the sleeve and the motto stitched into the hem in a post on social media, saying, “from the Chicago stars embossed on the sleeve, to the motto stitched inside the hem, this jersey carries our city's story down to the last detail 🪡”

The team’s press release laid out the look in even more detail, calling it a “Green Jersey!” and tying the theme to progress.

It noted that 2026 marks 50 years since the Blackhawks wore the “I Will the Spirit of Chicago” motto on their home jersey, and said the motto is linked to major civic moments such as Chicago’s World’s Fairs. The release described the jersey as having a vivid green base, the current Blackhawks logo, gold shoulder patches, and four debossed six-pointed stars on each sleeve as a nod to the city flag.

“When we began exploring what a Blackhawks Hometown Remix jersey could be, we kept coming back to the idea of finding a story that was authentically Chicago while remaining true to the Blackhawks,” said Jerry Ferguson, Blackhawks Executive Vice President of Brand & Marketing. “What stood out was a unique connection from 1961, when the Blackhawks captured the Stanley Cup the same year Chicago plumbers discovered the process that would become the city’s annual tradition of dyeing the Chicago River green every St.

Patrick’s Day. Those are two iconic moments in Chicago history, and bringing them together created a unique opportunity to celebrate both our team and our city.”

Chicago will wear the Hometown Remix uniform six times during the 2026-27 regular season. After tonight’s debut against Colorado, the Blackhawks are scheduled to wear it again later this season against the Vegas Golden Knights on Dec. 29, the Tampa Bay Lightning on Mar. 8, the Washington Capitals on Mar. 10, the Anaheim Ducks on Mar. 14 and the San Jose Sharks on Mar. 16.

Blackhawks Just Unveiled A New Look Fans Will Definitely Debate

The Blackhawks added a fresh wrinkle to their look this week with a green-themed jersey unveiled as part of a league-wide release, and it is already the kind of design that will get fans talking. Built around the Blackhawks logo on a green base, the sweater is meant to celebrate Chicagos history and progress, with gold shoulder patches and embossed stars inspired by the city flag giving it a distinctly local feel.

It is also set to become more than a one-off alternate, with the team planning to wear it at six home games this season and rolling out a new merchandise line alongside it. The first chance to see it in action comes in a home matchup against the Colorado Avalanche, which should give Blackhawks fans an immediate read on whether this new look lands as a sharp addition or a bold departure. Blackhawks Just Got A Brutal Patrick Kane Blow During This Slide

The Blackhawks skid got a whole lot tougher to manage in Denver, where a 5-2 loss to the Avalanche stretched their slide to three straight and sent another jolt through a lineup already trying to find its footing. Patrick Kane, who has been carrying the offense since returning to Chicago on a two-year contract, left in the second period with an upper-body injury and did not come back, leaving the team to finish the night without its top scorer.

For a club still trying to stabilize its season, losing Kane at this stage is more than a short-term inconvenience. Head coach Jeff Blashill said the winger is expected to miss at least the next couple of games, which puts even more pressure on a roster that has already been leaning on him heavily. Chicago now has to sort through a rough stretch without the one player who has been giving its attack the most reliable punch. [Read more 🡒]

Blackhawks Get Even Worse News After Another Brutal Loss

The Blackhawks were already trying to steady themselves after another rough night at the United Center, where they let a 2-0 lead slip away in a 5-2 loss to the Avalanche. It was the kind of collapse that deepens every concern around a team that has now dropped six of its last seven, and it leaves little margin for error as a difficult road trip approaches.

Chicago also has to navigate the fallout from Patrick Kanes upper-body injury, which is expected to keep him out for the next couple of games. Losing one of the clubs most important pieces only adds to the pressure on a roster that is searching for answers fast, and the timing could hardly be worse with the schedule about to get tougher.
