Tom Brady Calls Out Bears Starter With Bold Season-End Message

As free agency looms, Tom Bradys praise of Nahshon Wright underscores the difficult roster decisions the Bears must soon confront.

With just one game left in the 2025 NFL season, Tom Brady is handing out some unofficial hardware of his own-and one of his top honors goes to a rising star in Chicago’s secondary. Brady took to social media to drop his personal “LFG Awards,” and among them was his pick for Value Player of the Year: Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright.

Let’s just say, Brady didn’t hold back in his praise.

“He had a tremendous season,” Brady said. “He was an absolute turnover machine.

The Bears, they didn't do a great job between the 20s, okay? The ball was moved a lot, but when it came down to turning the ball over, they were better than every team in the league, and he was a huge reason why.”

That’s not just lip service. Wright was everywhere this season-picking off passes, forcing fumbles, recovering loose balls, and even taking one to the house.

His stat line reads like a defensive coordinator’s dream: 80 tackles, 11 pass breakups, five interceptions, three tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, one QB hit, and a pick-six across 17 games. That kind of production doesn’t just happen by accident-it’s the result of instincts, preparation, and a nose for the football.

Wright’s breakout year didn’t go unnoticed by the league either. He earned a spot in the Pro Bowl Games as a replacement for Eagles rookie standout Quinyon Mitchell, capping off what’s easily been the best season of his career.

But here’s where things get interesting.

Wright is set to hit free agency this offseason, and he’s about to get paid. Early projections have his next contract landing somewhere around $50 million over three or four years. That’s a hefty price tag, especially for a team like the Bears that’s trying to balance multiple priorities on defense.

Chicago would love to bring Wright back-there’s no question about that. But they’ve also got some tough decisions to make.

The safety position is a major concern, with both Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker needing to be re-signed or replaced. And let’s not forget the elephant in the room: the Bears are still hunting for a true game-wrecking pass rusher, something their defense sorely lacked in 2025.

So the front office is facing a classic offseason dilemma. Do you lock in a ballhawk like Wright, who helped turn the tide in key moments all year long? Or do you allocate those dollars toward a pass rusher who can collapse the pocket and change games from the line of scrimmage?

It’s a tough call, but one thing’s clear-Wright has earned every bit of the praise he’s getting. Whether it’s in Chicago or elsewhere, someone’s going to give him that contract Brady mentioned. And if he keeps playing like this, it might end up looking like a bargain.
