There’s been some movement on the coaching carousel, and it looks like Declan Doyle’s name is heating up.
After recently removing himself from consideration for the Eagles' offensive coordinator opening, Doyle may not be staying in Chicago much longer. According to reports, the Ravens have officially requested to interview him for their OC position - a sign that new head coach Jesse Minter is casting a wide net as he builds out his first staff.
Doyle just wrapped up his first season as offensive coordinator with the Bears, helping guide the team to an NFC North title under Ben Johnson’s leadership. While Johnson called the plays, Doyle’s influence on the offense was clear, particularly in his work with the passing game and tight ends - areas where he’s built a strong reputation.
Before arriving in Chicago, Doyle spent two seasons as the tight ends coach in Denver under Sean Payton, and he also worked on Payton’s staff in New Orleans. That kind of continuity in offensive systems - especially ones with a heavy emphasis on timing, spacing, and quarterback efficiency - makes him an intriguing candidate for a team like Baltimore, which is looking to evolve its offense around Lamar Jackson’s dynamic skill set.
Minter, who took over the Ravens after a standout run as Michigan’s defensive coordinator, is expected to interview multiple candidates for the job. One of those is Lions assistant head coach and wide receivers coach Scottie Montgomery, another name with a strong résumé and offensive versatility.
It’s early in the process, but the Ravens’ interest in Doyle signals they’re looking for a coordinator who brings both scheme familiarity and player development chops. With Doyle’s background under Payton and his recent success in Chicago, he checks a lot of boxes.
As the Ravens begin shaping their post-Greg Roman offensive identity, don’t be surprised if Doyle remains firmly in the mix.
