Jordan Love’s afternoon in Chicago took a brutal turn-and not just because of the scoreboard.
Midway through the second quarter of Saturday’s matchup against the Bears, Love took a hard hit from rookie edge rusher Austin Booker that left him shaken up and ultimately sidelined with a concussion. Booker was flagged for roughing the passer, but the damage was done. Love exited for the locker room and didn’t return.
What happened next was as bizarre as it was viral. As Love walked off the field, cameras caught a dazed expression on his face-one that instantly reminded fans of a now-infamous image of Aaron Rodgers from a 2021 game against the Cardinals.
Social media, never one to miss a moment, pounced. Side-by-side comparisons of the two quarterbacks wearing the same number, making eerily similar faces, flooded timelines.
“Jordan Love recreated the Aaron Rodgers photo,” one post read. And just like that, a meme was born.
But while the internet was busy cracking jokes, the Packers were unraveling on the field.
With Love out, backup Malik Willis stepped in and gave Green Bay a fighting chance. The former third-round pick looked composed under pressure, throwing for 121 yards, a touchdown, and adding 44 more on the ground. He kept the offense moving and helped the Packers build a 10-point lead late in the fourth quarter.
Then came the collapse.
If you’re a Packers fan, this one might’ve felt like déjà vu-specifically, a painful throwback to the 2014 NFC Championship Game against the Seahawks. Just like that infamous meltdown, Green Bay couldn’t close the deal. A botched onside kick recovery cracked the door open, and the Bears stormed right through it.
The dagger came in overtime. Facing a 4th-and-1 deep in Chicago territory, the Packers fumbled the snap, killing a promising drive.
On the very next possession, Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams delivered the final blow-a 46-yard touchdown strike to D.J. Moore that sent Soldier Field into a frenzy.
With the win, Chicago improves to 11-4 and edges closer to its first NFC North title since 2018. For the Packers, it’s another gut-punch loss in a season that’s been anything but predictable. And for Jordan Love, the hope is that the concussion is a temporary setback-not just for his health, but for a team still searching for consistency at the quarterback position.
Saturday’s game gave us a little bit of everything-injury drama, viral moments, a quarterback stepping up in relief, and a late-game collapse that will sting for a while in Green Bay.
