Former Bears quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko is on the move again-and this time, he’s taking on one of the NFL’s most critical roles: offensive coordinator.
After spending the 2025 season as the quarterbacks coach for the Seattle Seahawks-where he played a key role in their Super Bowl-winning campaign-Janocko has been hired by the Las Vegas Raiders to lead their offense. He reunites with Klint Kubiak, the former Seahawks offensive coordinator who now holds the top job in Vegas as the Raiders’ new head coach.
For Bears fans, Janocko’s name brings back memories of the early stages of Justin Fields’ career. He served as Chicago’s quarterbacks coach during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, a stretch that saw Fields flash elite athleticism while struggling to grow into a consistent passer. In 2022, Fields even cracked the top 10 in MVP voting-a testament to his dynamic playmaking-but the Bears still couldn’t break through to the postseason.
It’s tough to pin Chicago’s struggles during that period on Janocko alone. The roster around Fields was thin, especially at the skill positions.
The Bears didn’t have the receiving talent or offensive line stability to truly support a young quarterback trying to find his footing in the league. That lack of infrastructure made it difficult for any coach to fully unlock Fields’ potential.
And as we saw this past season, Fields’ challenges followed him to New York. His stint with the Jets was rocky, to say the least. A tough year as a starter raised serious questions about his future as a long-term QB1 in the league.
Janocko, meanwhile, has quietly built some momentum in his post-Chicago career. In Seattle, he worked with Sam Darnold-yes, that Sam Darnold-and helped transform him into a reliable starter. Under Janocko’s guidance, Darnold led one of the league’s most efficient offenses in 2025, playing clean football and showing a level of poise and decision-making that had eluded him earlier in his career.
That kind of turnaround doesn’t happen by accident. Janocko’s ability to connect with quarterbacks, simplify reads, and tailor the offense to a player’s strengths clearly made an impression-not just in Seattle, but around the league.
Now, he steps into a bigger spotlight in Las Vegas. The Raiders are betting that Janocko can replicate the success he had in Seattle, this time with a full offense under his control. And with Kubiak at the helm, the two former Seahawks coaches will look to bring some of that Super Bowl-winning magic to the desert.
As for the Bears? They turned the page in 2025, making the playoffs and showing real signs of growth. So while Janocko’s time in Chicago didn’t result in postseason success, both he and his former team seem to be trending in the right direction.
Sometimes, the NFL is about timing and fit. And right now, Andrew Janocko looks like a coach on the rise-one who’s earned his shot at running an offense from the top.
