Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson isn't shy about reuniting with familiar faces from his time with the Detroit Lions. This offseason, he brought wide receiver and return specialist Kalif Raymond into the fold, and now there's buzz about another potential reunion.
Reports indicate Johnson has reached out to Taylor Decker, a former Lions offensive lineman, sparking interest in a possible move to Chicago. Decker, who hasn't heard from the Lions recently, noted the contrast of hearing from Johnson, highlighting the coach's proactive approach.
Decker's standout season came in 2024 when he earned a Pro Bowl nod under Johnson's guidance as offensive coordinator. With 140 career starts, primarily at left tackle, Decker brings experience and skill to the table.
The Bears are facing a dilemma at left tackle with Ozzy Trapilo sidelined for much of the 2026 season due to injury. The competition currently includes Braxton Jones, Theo Benedet, and Jedrick Wills Jr., but Decker could be the ideal stopgap.
