Bears
In a surprising turn of events, Bears GM Ryan Poles addressed the sudden retirement of center Drew Dalman, who had just inked a three-year contract with the team. This unexpected move prompted the Bears to swiftly trade with the Patriots for center Garrett Bradbury.
"Unexpected things happen in this job," Poles remarked. "Drew's retirement caught us off guard.
I respect his decision and the reasons behind it, which he'll share when he's ready. I'm proud of our organization for adapting quickly, bringing in Bradbury to help solidify our offensive line."
Lions
Colton Pouncey of The Athletic has been diving into the Lions’ depth chart post-free agency, identifying key areas that still need attention.
At running back, it's unclear if Detroit will draft a new player or rely on Sione Vaki as a key piece. The idea of picking up a tight end during Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft seems logical for the team.
Pouncey notes that Larry Borom, despite being a natural right tackle, is favored to start on the left side. This opens up the possibility of Detroit selecting a first-round offensive tackle as a starter.
On the defensive front, the Lions could benefit from adding "two to three edge rushers" to bolster their lineup. Former Saints DE Cameron Jordan is a potential fit, and drafting an edge rusher in the second round is also on the table.
There’s also a need for another defensive tackle, with D.J. Reader mentioned as a free-agent target.
At inside linebacker, the Lions might look to draft a replacement for LB Alex Anzalone, especially if Malcolm Rodriguez is viewed more as a depth player.
The safety position remains uncertain with Brian Branch (Achilles) not expected to be ready for Week 1. Drafting a safety could be a prudent move to address this gap.
Vikings
Zack Rosenblatt reveals that the Jets showed interest in signing QB Carson Wentz, but Wentz opted to return to the Vikings.
In other news, Wake Forest RB Demond Claiborne and Wisconsin TE Lance Mason both had visits with the Vikings. Additionally, Oregon OL Alex Harkey is set for a private workout with the team following his pro day, according to a source from NFL Trade Rumors.
