The Chicago Bears opened Week 15 with some encouraging signs - especially when it comes to their top wideout, Rome Odunze.
Odunze, who missed the Bears’ last game against the Packers with a foot injury, was listed as a limited participant in Tuesday’s practice. That’s a notable step forward for the rookie receiver, who’s been one of the few consistent sparks in Chicago’s offense this season. His presence - or absence - has a real impact on how the Bears move the ball, and getting him back on the field, even in a limited capacity, is a welcome sight as the team prepares for a tough matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Also limited in practice was cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, who’s working his way back from a hip injury that also kept him out of the Packers game. Stevenson’s return to the practice field, even in a limited role, is a positive development for a secondary that’s suddenly a little thin.
And that brings us to Kyler Gordon. The second-year cornerback didn’t practice due to a groin injury - the same one that sidelined him last weekend after he was hurt during pregame warmups.
Head coach Ben Johnson had already hinted that things weren’t trending in the right direction for Gordon, and Tuesday’s DNP confirms that concern. If he can’t go this week, the Bears will need to shuffle their secondary once again.
Stevenson, if healthy enough, could slide back in. Otherwise, the coaching staff may have to weigh options like C.J.
Gardner-Johnson or Nahshon Wright to fill the void.
Running back Travis Homer also missed practice with an ankle injury. While Homer’s role has been more on special teams and as a depth piece, his absence could force some minor adjustments in the backfield rotation and kick coverage units.
Here’s the full rundown of Chicago’s Tuesday injury report:
12/10/2025 Bears Injury Report
- Kyler Gordon, CB (Groin) - Did Not Practice
- Travis Homer, RB (Ankle) - Did Not Practice
- Rome Odunze, WR (Foot) - Limited
- Tyrique Stevenson, CB (Hip) - Limited
- Olamide Zaccheaus, WR (Hamstring) - Limited
- Ruben Hyppolite II, LB (Shoulder) - Full
- Jaylon Johnson, CB (Groin) - Full
The good news? Jaylon Johnson is practicing fully, and that’s a big deal for a Bears defense that leans heavily on his lockdown ability. Ruben Hyppolite II being a full participant also helps shore up linebacker depth.
But all eyes will be on Odunze and Gordon as the week progresses. Odunze trending upward is a huge boost - if he’s able to suit up against Cleveland, it gives quarterback Caleb Williams a reliable target who can stretch the field and win contested catches. That’s exactly the kind of presence the Bears will need against a Browns defense that’s been among the league’s toughest this season.
As for Gordon, his potential absence creates a ripple effect across the secondary. If Stevenson can get back to full speed, that cushions the blow. But if both are limited or out, the Bears could find themselves patching together a cornerback unit against a Cleveland offense that’s quietly found its rhythm in recent weeks.
Bottom line: The Bears are banged up, but not broken. Getting Odunze back on the field would be a major win. Now it’s a matter of how the rest of the week plays out - and whether Chicago’s depth can hold the line if starters can’t go.
