Injuries have been the big Bears storyline all week, and the final report brought a little clarity before Sunday Night Football against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Chicago got some good news on a few fronts, though the cornerback situation still has some real uncertainty hanging over it.
The biggest surprise came with Kyle Monangai. The running back, who had not practiced in about a month, returned in limited fashion and was listed as questionable with the thumb/toe injury.
That’s a notable development for the Bears, even if there’s still a real chance he sits out. He has only practiced once in the last month, so his availability remains very much up in the air.
Malik Muhammad is also questionable after logging a third straight limited practice day because of a toe injury. His status looks better than it did earlier in the week, and it would not be a shock if he’s back after missing Chicago’s Week 8 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
Given the Bears’ issues at corner this season, getting Muhammad back would matter. He has been the most consistent cover man in that group, and Chicago could use that stability on the outside.
Tyrique Stevenson added another wrinkle. He showed up on the report with a thumb injury, was limited on Friday, and is now questionable.
It’s a fresh issue for Stevenson, who has already been dealing with bumps and bruises over the last few weeks. If Muhammad and Stevenson both can’t go, that leaves the Bears in a tough spot at corner with Jaylon Johnson starting and another decision to make alongside him.
There was better news elsewhere. Theo Benedet is set to play after being listed with a shoulder injury.
He was a full participant on Friday and carries no injury designation, which is a relief after he missed Wednesday and was limited Thursday. That gives Chicago its top left tackle option for now.
D’Marco Jackson is also good to go after being a full participant Friday following an ankle issue that popped up late in the week. The Bears have had their share of linebacker injuries with T.J. Edwards and Jack Sanborn, so Jackson being available helps the depth there.
Grady Jarrett cleared the final hurdle too. After missing Wednesday and being limited Thursday with a groin injury, he was a full participant Friday and is set to play. With Kentavius Street on IR, Chicago can use its veteran presence at defensive tackle.
T.J. Edwards is also available after missing Wednesday for personal reasons and then practicing fully Thursday and Friday.
No concerns were listed for Thuney, who had a veteran day off Thursday and is expected to be ready against the Buccaneers.

Jaylon Johnson Trade Talk Creates A Bears Deadline Dilemma
Jaylon Johnsons uneven start to the season has become one of the more intriguing roster questions facing the Bears as the trade deadline approaches. The cornerback has been working through the aftereffects of a soft-tissue injury, and his first eight games have not looked like the steady, top-end stretch Chicago expected when the year began.
Ryan Poles is reportedly weighing a move to add help at corner, a step that could reshape the discussion around Johnson almost immediately. If the Bears do end up shopping their own veteran defender, the market could be complicated by interest from around the league, and there are already reasons for Chicago to be careful about where that conversation leads. Tom Brady Sees Something Bears Fans Have Been Waiting For
Tom Brady had a familiar way of putting a spotlight on the Bears after their win over Seattle, and this time the focus was on Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson. In a recent interview, Brady praised the way Williams has settled into Johnsons offense, pointing to the schemes unconventional play designs and the growing comfort between quarterback and coach as the kind of foundation Chicago has been looking for.
The bigger takeaway for Bears fans is the sense that this pairing is starting to look functional in a way that matters. Brady drew a line to the kind of trust Johnson built with Jared Goff in Detroit, which only adds to the intrigue around how far Williams and Johnson can take this offense if the connection keeps developing. Bears Linked To Costly Cornerback Option Dennis Allen Knows Well
The Bears have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for a cornerback upgrade, and the name floating around is one Dennis Allen already knows from his time with the Saints. Tennessees Alontae Taylor has come up in speculation as a player who could make sense for Chicagos defense, especially with Allen now coordinating a unit that could use more help on the back end.
What makes the idea interesting is the mix of familiarity and financial math. Taylors contract would be part of the discussion, and the thinking is that Chicago might not need to give up much draft capital if it were willing to absorb the salary. For now, though, it remains a fit-and-cost conversation rather than a confirmed move, with the bigger question being whether the Bears would view him as the right answer at the position.
