Aaron Glenn had the kind of injury update the New York Jets did not want to hear heading into Week 4.
Breece Hall will not be available when the Jets face the Chicago Bears, Glenn said ahead of the matchup. According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, Hall is out for Sunday because of a quadriceps injury. He is being described as week-to-week and has not practiced since leaving early in last week’s loss to the Detroit Lions.
That leaves the backfield in the hands of Braelon Allen, who is expected to serve as the Jets’ lead running back against Chicago. Isaiah Davis is also expected to be part of the mix in the game.
Hall’s absence is a significant blow for a player who has been a fixture for New York since the team drafted him in 2022. He has appeared in at least 16 games in every season but one, and he is coming off a career year in 2025, when he logged 243 carries for 1,065 yards and four rushing touchdowns.
The injury happened late in the defeat to Detroit, and now Hall is set to miss time while Allen and Davis try to absorb the workload.
The Jets enter Week 4 at 1-2. They opened the season with a win over the Tennessee Titans, then dropped back-to-back games against the Green Bay Packers and Lions. Now they’ll try to stop that slide against the Bears.
New York has not reached the playoffs since the 2010 season, and the team is aiming to get back to .500 and keep its postseason hopes alive.

Roschon Johnson Is Giving The Bears A Role Few Fans Expected
Roschon Johnson has quietly become one of the more interesting early-season pieces for the Bears, even if most of his work has come far from the spotlight. Through the opening stretch of 2026, he has been on the field for 61% of Chicagos special teams plays while seeing only a small slice of offensive action, a usage pattern that stands out for a player many expected to factor more prominently on offense.
For a back whose availability has been affected by injury issues in the past, the special teams emphasis gives the Bears a different kind of value from Johnson than fans may have anticipated. The exact tackle count is a little murky, with different outlets crediting him differently, but the broader point is clear: Chicago has leaned on him in a phase of the game where effort, trust and consistency matter, and that role may say as much about his present as it does about what the Bears think he can still become. Bears Can Live With One Roster Call Fans Were Ready To Regret
The Bears made a notable roster pivot when they dealt defensive tackle Gervon Dexter to the Falcons for cornerback Clark Phillips III and a 2027 fifth-round pick, a move that immediately raised eyebrows for a defense that had already been leaning on Dexters interior presence. Chicagos side of the equation was never only about on-field value, either. Salary considerations and the need for financial flexibility were part of the calculation, and those are the kinds of moves that can look rough in the moment even when they make sense on the ledger.
So far, the Bears can at least live with how it has played out. Their defense has stayed strong and sits near the top of the league in several key categories, while Dexter has settled in quickly with Atlanta and earned a four-year extension there. For Chicago, the trade still carries the kind of risk that can linger all season, but the early returns have softened what might have been an easy decision for fans to regret. [Read more 🡒]
Bears Offense Heads Into Jets Game With One Huge Question
The Bears offense heads into its Week 4 trip to face the Jets still sorting through a lot more than just the usual injury concerns. Chicagos final report for the 2026 season lists five players out and one doubtful, and the biggest absence is Caleb Williams, who is expected to miss multiple games because of a hamstring injury. Kyler Gordon is also ruled out, leaving the roster thinner at a time when the Bears are trying to steady themselves on the road.
Case Keenum and Tyson Bagent remain the two quarterbacks under consideration for the start, and the uncertainty has put the offense in a holding pattern as game day approaches. With Williams unavailable and the depth chart still unsettled, Chicago is left weighing experience against familiarity while preparing for a Jets defense that will know the Bears are short on time to settle the question.
