The Bears didn’t just beat the Eagles in Week 3. They controlled the game from start to finish, rolling to a 27-7 win that left Chicago fans floating and Philadelphia looking for answers.
Chicago put up 375 yards of offense, and Case Keenum was the engine. The veteran quarterback went 24-of-34 for 247 yards and two touchdowns without a turnover, then added a rushing score to cap off a night that stood out for all the right reasons. The Bears also forced three turnovers and blanked the Eagles in the second half.
There were plenty of standout performances on both sides of the ball, starting with Kalif Raymond. He may have benefited from a breakdown in the Eagles’ defense on his 41-yard touchdown grab, but the bigger point is that he keeps showing up. Raymond finished with six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown, and he continues to look like one of the team’s most reliable weapons.
Dillon Thieneman also kept building on a strong rookie season. He led the Bears with six tackles, added a pass deflection, and came up with a huge interception in the end zone when Philadelphia was inside the five-yard line in the first half. That kind of play can swing a game, and it sure felt like it did here.
T.J. Edwards belongs on the winners list too, even if the tackle total doesn’t jump off the page.
He had just three tackles, but he made his presence felt everywhere else with three pass deflections, a tackle for loss, and an interception late in the third quarter. His coverage work has turned him into one of the best at his position.
The defense as a whole deserves a lot of credit. The Eagles managed only 248 yards and turned it over three times.
Chicago also recorded two sacks, five tackles for loss, and four quarterback hits. Over the last two weeks, this unit has been playing at a level the franchise hasn’t seen in a long time.
Not every Bears performance was clean, though. Jaylon Johnson had a better second half after making a strong read and forcing a screen-pass stop on Makai Lemon for a loss, but he also gave up some catches he’d probably want back, including getting Mossed on a ball while covering DeVonta Smith.
Kyle Monangai also lands among the losers, mostly because the Eagles bottled up the run. He finished with 31 yards on 10 carries. That’s not a disaster in a win, but it was a step back after he went for more than 100 yards against Philadelphia last year.
Braxton Jones suffered a tough injury, but Kiran Amegadjie Benedet stepped in and helped steady things at left tackle in the second half. He didn’t allow a sack, and Chicago ran the ball better with him out there.
Then there’s Keenum, who was easily the biggest winner of the night. At 38, with his last start coming in 2023, he walked into this game and took it over. Chicago will be talking about this one for a long time.
