The Chicago Bears might be facing another shakeup on their coaching staff - and this one could hit close to home for new head coach Ben Johnson.
Offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, one of the rising stars in the coaching ranks, is once again drawing interest from around the league. After initially pulling his name from consideration for the Philadelphia Eagles’ OC vacancy, Doyle is now on the radar of another contender: the Baltimore Ravens. According to reports, Baltimore has formally requested to interview Doyle for their offensive coordinator position, a move that comes shortly after the Ravens hired Jesse Minter as their new head coach.
This marks the second team showing serious interest in Doyle, and it’s no surprise why. In 2025, Doyle helped guide the Bears to a top-five finish in total offense - a remarkable feat for a first-year coordinator, especially with a rookie quarterback under center.
But this wasn’t just any rookie. Caleb Williams, the Bears’ No. 1 overall pick, made major strides throughout the season, and Doyle’s fingerprints were all over that development.
The offense was dynamic, creative, and efficient - a rare combination for a team in transition.
Despite his youth - Doyle hasn’t even hit 30 yet - teams are clearly taking notice. He’s already earned a reputation as a sharp offensive mind with a knack for quarterback development.
While he doesn’t have play-calling experience yet, that hasn’t slowed the momentum. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler noted that Doyle impressed during his interview with the Eagles and is viewed by some around the league as a potential head coaching candidate as early as 2026.
One big reason for that? His coaching pedigree.
Doyle has worked under both Sean Payton and now Ben Johnson - two of the league’s most respected offensive architects. That kind of mentorship matters.
Teams looking to replicate the Bears’ offensive turnaround are naturally going to look at the people behind the scenes, and Doyle’s resume is starting to speak loudly.
From Chicago’s perspective, this situation is getting tense. While the Bears technically have the authority to block teams from interviewing Doyle, they allowed him to speak with the Eagles, and there’s no indication they’ll stand in the way if he wants to meet with the Ravens. That could open the door for Doyle to take on full play-calling duties for the first time - a crucial step for any coordinator with head coaching aspirations.
If Doyle does leave, it would be a significant loss for the Bears. His connection with Caleb Williams and his role in shaping the offense were key to Chicago’s 2025 success. But it also speaks volumes about the program Ben Johnson is building - one that’s already producing coaching talent in demand across the league.
For now, the Bears are holding their breath. The Ravens are circling, and Declan Doyle’s coaching stock is rising fast.
