The Bears’ Week 4 injury report brought a lot more relief than concern.
Chicago, which enters Sunday’s matchup with the 1-2 New York Jets at Soldier Field at 2-1, will be without Caleb Williams again as the quarterback works through a hamstring injury. Williams missed every practice session this week and was officially ruled out for the game. Braxton Jones is also out after suffering a knee injury against the Eagles.
There were a few other notable names on the report, but the overall picture tilted in a positive direction for Chicago. Kyler Gordon was added after the Bears opened his 21-day practice window from the Physically Unable to Perform list, and he’s been ruled out for Sunday.
Shemar Turner and Noah Sewell, who are also in that same 21-day window, were limited earlier in the week before being upgraded to full participation by Friday. The Bears still ruled both out for the Jets game, though the fact that they’ve now shown up on consecutive reports suggests they could be moved off PUP in time for Week 5 in Green Bay.
D’Andre Swift briefly landed back on the injury report because of a lingering knee issue and missed practice on Thursday, but he was back to full participation by Friday and carries no designation for Sunday.
The same goes for linemen Joe Thuney, Jonah Jackson, and Grady Jarrett, who all spent time on the report with personal or rest designations before returning to full practice by the end of the week. None of the three is listed with an injury designation for the Jets game.
Cam Lewis is the one to keep an eye on heading into Sunday. He is doubtful after being limited earlier in the week and then not practicing on Friday, which points toward him being out of the secondary.
Even with the report looking a little busier than it had earlier this season, there are still encouraging signs for Chicago. Kyler Gordon’s possible return from what has been described as a mysterious injury is one of them, and Ozzy Trapilo not appearing on the report at all is another.
The Bears also get a favorable setup against a Jets team that will be without Breece Hall, leaving New York’s run game thin. Chicago’s coaching staff also has plenty of familiarity with the Jets’ head coach, quarterback, and roster. With Sewell, Turner, and Gordon all moving closer to a return, the next few injury reports should look different.
A win Sunday would put the Bears a step closer to reclaiming the top spot in the NFC North. A 3-1 record going into Lambeau for Week 5 would look pretty good.

Bears Let An Ugly NFL Streak End At Soldier Field
A long-running oddity finally disappeared at Soldier Field when the Jets snapped an interception drought that had stretched beyond 1,000 days and more than 600 pass attempts. The takeaway for the Bears was a familiar one in a season full of quarterback turnover: backup Tyson Bagent was in at the time, and the turnover came in the second quarter with New Yorks secondary taking advantage of the situation.
Minkah Fitzpatrick was the one who made it happen, and he did it soon after returning from a groin injury. For a Jets defense that had gone far too long without a pick, the play ended one of the longest active droughts in recent NFL history and offered a small but notable defensive lift in Chicago. Ben Johnson Sent A Clear Message About The Bears Quarterback Room
The Bears took care of the Jets with a run-heavy showing that leaned on Kyle Monangai, who ripped through New York for 146 yards and two touchdowns as Chicago controlled the game on the ground and on the clock. It was also a notable night for the quarterback room, with Ben Johnson opening the game by giving veteran Case Keenum one snap before turning things over to Tyson Bagent, who settled in and handled the bulk of the work.
Bagent finished 25 of 34 for 268 yards and an interception, a line that fit the way Chicago wanted to play in a game where the defense and run game carried plenty of the load. The choice to start Keenum for a play and then move quickly to Bagent was hard to miss, especially in a win where the Bears were able to dictate terms while the Jets struggled to generate much without Breece Hall. Tyson Bagent Faces One Bears Test That Could Decide Everything
Tyson Bagent is set to make his first start since the 2023 season in Week 4 against the Jets, with Caleb Williams still out because of a hamstring injury. Bagent has been handling most of the first-team reps in practice, and this week has become a real test of how the Bears want to function with a different kind of quarterback in place.
For Chicago, the question is less about asking Bagent to be a hero than about what a workable game plan looks like around him. His style gives the Bears a chance to lean into what he does well, but the bigger issue is whether the offense can stay on schedule and avoid forcing him into spots that dont fit his strengths.
