Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball found himself in the spotlight for reasons off the court this week. Ball was involved in a two-car crash in downtown Charlotte, an incident that thankfully left him uninjured.
Caught on video by WSOC-TV, the crash featured Ball's distinctive camouflage-colored GMC Hummer colliding with a gray Kia sedan at a busy intersection. In the aftermath, the footage captured someone exiting the Kia and approaching the Hummer. Ball was seen leaving his vehicle and getting into another car before departing the scene.
While the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department hasn't confirmed the identities of those involved, sources indicate that Ball was indeed driving the Hummer. Attempts to get comments from Ball's camp were met with silence.
This isn't Ball's first brush with vehicular incidents. Back in May 2024, he faced a lawsuit stemming from an alleged incident where he reportedly ran over an 11-year-old's foot near Spectrum Center. The family is seeking over $25,000 in damages, and the case remains unresolved.
Despite these off-court distractions, Ball's focus will need to return to basketball as the Hornets gear up for their first post-All-Star break game against the Houston Rockets. Ball has been putting up impressive numbers this season, averaging 19.3 points and 7.4 assists, and fans will be eager to see him continue his strong performance.
