Where UCFs Biggest Wins Fit As A Massive Rivalry Looms

Discover the stakes and storylines as Florida, Florida State, and UCF gear up for pivotal showdowns on their home turf this weekend.

Florida-Georgia takes center stage this weekend, but the matchup comes with a different backdrop than usual: the rivalry has been moved to Atlanta. The Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs will meet there in the first ranked-vs.-ranked game between the programs since 2020, with kickoff set for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.

The Bulldogs have had the upper hand in this series for a while now. Georgia has won eight of the last 10 meetings, including the last five in a row.

The story of those games has been pretty straightforward - Georgia has found a way to slow Florida’s offense. Over the last 15 matchups, the Gators have topped 30 points only twice.

Elsewhere on this week’s edition of Home Turf, the conversation turns to UCF and the program’s biggest victories. The question on the table: where does the Knights’ win over BYU belong on the list of all-time great moments? The show also looks ahead to UCF’s upcoming game against Baylor.

The weekend slate is packed from noon through prime time, with Notre Dame-Navy in Foxborough, Massachusetts, leading off at noon on ABC. That window also includes California at NC State on ACCN, Bowling Green at Western Michigan on CBSSN, Boston College at Duke on the CW, Arizona at Texas Tech on ESPN, SMU at Syracuse on ESPN2, UAB at South Florida on ESPNU, Wisconsin at Iowa on FOX and Illinois at Maryland on FS1.

At 12:30 p.m., Michigan visits Rutgers on BTN, followed by Auburn at Mississippi at 12:45 p.m. on SECN. The afternoon opens up with Kansas State at Colorado on TNT at 2 p.m., then Stanford at Louisville at 3:15 p.m. on ACCN.

The 3:30 p.m. window is loaded: Florida vs. Georgia in Atlanta on ABC, Minnesota at Indiana on CBS, FIU at Liberty on CBSSN, Arizona State at BYU on FOX, Kansas at TCU on FS1, Northwestern at Oregon on NBCSN/PEACOCK and Colorado State at Utah State on USA.

Later, Utah takes on Cincinnati at 3:45 p.m. on ESPN, while Virginia faces Wake Forest on ESPN2. At 4 p.m., South Dakota plays South Dakota State on ESPNU. The 4:15 p.m. block features Nevada at UCLA or Purdue at Penn State on BTN, along with South Carolina at Oklahoma on SECN.

Night games bring Clemson at Florida State on ACCN and Washington State at San Diego State on CBSSN at 7 p.m., plus Oklahoma State at Iowa State on FOX. The 7:30 p.m. window features Miami at North Carolina on ABC, Mississippi State at Texas on ESPN, Georgia Tech at Pittsburgh on ESPN2 and Ohio State at Southern Cal on NBC/PEACOCK.

Baylor Faces Immediate Pressure In First Game After Dave Aranda Fired

Baylor arrives in Orlando with the sort of backdrop that can change a game before the opening kickoff. The Bears are coming off a coaching change, with defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman stepping in as interim head coach while still carrying his usual defensive responsibilities, and that puts an extra layer of pressure on a team already trying to sort out its offensive rhythm and defensive identity.

For UCF, the timing makes this a useful measuring-stick matchup against a Baylor group that will be leaning on key contributors like DJ Lagway, Gavin Freeman and Louis Brown to steady things. The Knights know they are facing a team searching for answers on both sides of the ball, but the bigger question is how Baylor responds when the noise around the program is as loud as the opponent across from it. Baylor Heads To UCF With Its Slide Facing A Real Test

UCF heads into its Week 9 matchup with Baylor carrying a little more confidence after snapping a two-game skid with a dramatic double-overtime win over BYU. The Knights have been far better at home this season, and with Keyone Jenkins settled in at quarterback, they suddenly look like a team capable of making life difficult for anyone visiting Orlando.

Baylor, meanwhile, arrives trying to halt its own slide after dropping back-to-back games following a four-game winning streak. The Bears still have enough recent success to suggest they can rebound quickly, but this trip gives them a chance to prove it against a UCF team that has shown it can respond when the pressure rises. Tyren Hornes Is Giving UCF Fans A New Reason For Hope

Tyren Hornes has gone from promising freshman to one of the more intriguing pieces in UCFs passing game, and the timing could not be better. His production has climbed as conference play has unfolded, and the Knights have seen enough from the young receiver to start leaning on him more heavily as part of the future of the room.

The most eye-catching moment came in the upset of then-No. 2 BYU, when Hornes delivered a career-best performance and showed the kind of poise that can change how a season feels for a team. For UCF fans looking for a reason to believe the receiving corps has a new building block, Hornes is making a compelling case and leaving plenty of room for bigger moments ahead. [Read more 🡒]
