UCF’s Thursday night season opener against Bethune-Cookman will do more than kick off Year 2 of the Scott Frost era in Orlando. It will also double as a recruiting showcase, with a batch of priority prospects from multiple classes set to be on campus when the Knights open the 2026 season at 7 p.m. ET.
The headliners in the stands are two commits already in UCF’s 2027 class. Lake Wales three-star athlete Kaneilius Purdy, who chose the Knights over rival USF in June, is back in the mix.
Purdy has been producing early in his senior season, piling up 193 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 12 catches through two games. UCF views him as a true offensive weapon, and getting him back to campus for a game like this is a strong sign.
Also returning is Noah Robinson, a three-star defensive lineman from Orlando Jones. At 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, Robinson gives UCF a versatile piece it believes can be used in multiple spots along the defensive front.
The Knights will also take another look at a pair of local 2027 seniors who have caught their attention. Orlando The First Academy edge rusher Justin Kemp and safety Ky'Mani Fils-Amie are both expected Thursday night, giving UCF a chance to evaluate them in person after liking what they’ve seen on film early this season. Kemp brings a quick first step and the ability to bend, while Fils-Aime plays with aggression in the secondary and isn’t shy about throwing his body around.
There’s more 2028 talent coming through as well. Clermont East Ridge three-star athlete Lamar Garrison and Melbourne Eau Gallie wide receiver Axzavious Hawkins are both slated to attend.
Garrison currently has Nebraska out front, though UCF could make things interesting with a strong local push. Hawkins already owns several Power Four offers and is still early in his recruitment.
A few more names are worth watching. Daytona Beach Mainland 2028 receiver Jaden Parks, listed at 6-foot-4 and 170 pounds, is starting to draw serious Power Four attention.
Kissimmee Osceola 2028 defensive lineman Jordan McCrimon picked up offers from Florida State, Georgia Tech, NC State and Mississippi State during the spring, and UCF has not offered yet, though that could change. And Melbourne High 2029 running back Tyrese Jefferson will be in the Bounce House after a fast start to his sophomore season, with 476 yards and four touchdowns on 53 carries through two games.
