UCF’s second test of the 2026 season comes with a bigger stage and a tougher assignment.
After rolling past Bethune-Cookman in its opener, the Knights hit the road Saturday for a matchup with Pitt at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Both teams are 1-0, and both showed plenty of offense in Week 1.
Pitt blasted Miami (OH) 59-14, with Mason Heintschel throwing seven touchdown passes. That puts the spotlight on a different kind of question for UCF: can new quarterback Alonza Barnett III keep the offense moving against a much stronger defense than the one the Knights saw last week?
There’s also a little bit more on the line for Scott Frost’s group. A win would give UCF its first road victory since September 14, 2024.

UCF’s 2026 schedule now shifts into a stretch that includes Georgia State on Sept. 19, TCU on Sept. 26, a trip to No.
23/24 Houston on Oct. 3, and road games at Oklahoma State, Kansas, and Colorado later in the year. The Knights also have home dates with No.
14/15 BYU, Baylor, Arizona State, and Iowa State, with a bye week before the Oct. 24 meeting with BYU.
Pitt’s schedule keeps moving fast, too, with Syracuse coming up on Sept. 17 after the UCF game. The Panthers also have Florida State, a trip to No. 24 Louisville, and a late-season road game at Cal still ahead.
