Keli Lawson Forces NFL Attention At UCF Pro Day

Keli Lawson's impressive Pro Day performance at UCF underscores his unique athletic abilities and strong NFL aspirations, despite missing the combine spotlight.

UCF's linebacker corps turned heads in the 2025 season, with standout performances from Lewis Carter, Cole Kozlowski, and the dynamic Keli Lawson anchoring the defense. Lawson, in particular, grabbed attention with his unique blend of size and agility, standing at 6-foot-4 and moving with the grace of a defensive back.

As Lawson sets his sights on the professional stage, he's focused on refining his skills. Despite missing an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine, he made a significant impact at UCF's 2026 Pro Day, showcasing an impressive 11-foot-3 broad jump-outperforming all linebackers at the combine.

During his single season with the Knights, Lawson played in all 12 games, starting in three. He racked up 34 tackles, with 25 being solo efforts, and recorded two sacks in his final game against BYU-marking his first multi-sack performance.

Lawson consistently made big plays throughout the season. He blocked a field goal in his debut against Jacksonville State, keeping the Gamecocks scoreless at halftime. Later, he returned a fumble for a touchdown during UCF's Homecoming victory over West Virginia.

He was a reliable presence on the field, recording at least four tackles in four games, with a season-high five against both No. 6 Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.

Reflecting on his Pro Day performance, Lawson expressed gratitude and acknowledged areas for improvement, saying, "It was a productive day, but I left a little meat on the bone."

His NFL dream has been a lifelong pursuit. "Moments like this are what you dream about as a kid," he shared, emphasizing his goal to join a solid team and make an impact.

When asked about team interactions, Lawson noted he's had a "fair amount" of conversations, pitching himself as a unique talent with a strong mindset and supportive background. "There's not another person with my stature moving the way I am," he confidently stated.

Lawson's preparation for this moment has been relentless, training intensely at X3 in Orlando. He emphasized the importance of showcasing his skills alongside teammates Malachi and Nyjalik, underscoring the camaraderie and competition among them.

Reflecting on his college journey, Lawson cherishes the relationships and lessons learned at Virginia Tech and UCF, crediting coaches and teammates for shaping his work ethic and values.

As he transitions from college to the pros, Lawson remains optimistic about the future, placing his trust in the process. "It's in God's hands," he said, hopeful for what comes next.

His favorite memory at UCF? Experiencing the infamous Florida heat during camp, leading to a full-body cramp he won't soon forget.

Lawson promises any team that takes a chance on him will get a dedicated player, a locker room asset, and a relentless hustler. Looking ahead, he sees great potential in the UCF program under Coach Frost, with the next generation ready to make their mark.
