Former UCF Star RJ Harvey Faces Sudden Setback In Denver

Young Broncos star RJ Harvey's rise is temporarily halted by a knee injury, shaking up Denver's offensive lineup.

RJ Harvey’s breakout season with the Broncos has hit a sudden pause.

Denver placed the former UCF star on injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury in practice before Sunday’s game, leaving him out for at least four games. The earliest he can return is Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins.

It’s a tough break for a player who had already become one of Sean Payton’s most useful offensive pieces. Taken No. 60 overall in 2025, Harvey has wasted no time making his mark in Denver, even with his rushing workload limited.

His latest big moment came in a 30-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals, when he hauled in a 52-yard touchdown - the longest play of the Broncos’ season and the longest of his NFL career. Early in the third quarter, Harvey leaked out of the backfield on a swing pass to the left, followed his blockers through traffic and raced untouched into the end zone.

The receiving numbers tell the story of how Denver has used him. Harvey has averaged nearly five targets and more than 36 yards per game, and even after missing Sunday’s contest he remains the Broncos’ third-leading receiver with 217 yards, just four behind veteran Courtland Sutton. His 25 catches are second on the team.

His best all-around receiving day came in Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers, when he was a perfect 10-for-10 on targets for 68 yards. That game featured one of the more eye-catching plays of Denver’s season: midway through the fourth quarter, Harvey caught a short pass in the left flat, absorbed contact from four 49ers defenders, broke free and turned it into an 18-yard gain. That total was the third-most receptions by a Denver running back in a single game in franchise history.

Harvey’s production has also pushed him into the Broncos’ record book. With 67 catches through his first 20 NFL games, he now stands alone atop the franchise rankings, passing Hall of Fame tailback Terrell Davis.

The injury comes at an awkward time for Denver, which has started to string together better offensive performances. With J.K. Dobbins also sidelined, the Broncos are expected to lean on rookie tailback Jonah Coleman, giving the physical Washington product a chance to make an impact in his first season.

UCF Suddenly Faces A Receiver Depth Issue Before Kansas

With Kansas coming up, UCF is dealing with a receiver situation that has shifted more quickly than expected. Jonathan Bibbs, a former Louisiana-Monroe wideout who joined the Knights, has entered the transfer portal as he looks for more playing time, leaving another hole in a position group that has already been sorting itself out during the season.

Bibbs had contributed five catches for 74 yards and a touchdown, but his role had been shrinking as the rotation evolved. The Knights have also seen freshman Tyren Hornes emerge, which has changed the pecking order and made the depth chart a little less settled at a time when UCF would prefer as much stability as possible heading into conference play. UCF Faces A Road Test That Could Define Its Toughness

The next stop on UCFs schedule brings a familiar kind of pressure, the sort that can tell a team a lot about itself. The Knights are heading to Kansas for a road matchup that offers more than just another conference game, because it comes against a Jayhawks team built around a physical rushing attack and a defense that will have to hold up away from home.

Kansas has leaned on the ground game all season, with Dylan Edwards giving the Jayhawks a steady burst of production and big-play threat out of the backfield. For UCF, the challenge is clear: its run defense has been one of the better units in the league, and this trip will test whether that strength can travel well enough to help end a road skid that has lingered far too long. UCF Opened A New Era With A Debut Night Fans Will Remember

Gabe Lazos first night on the UCF womens basketball bench started exactly the way a new coach hopes it will, with energy, purpose and a convincing result. In his debut as head coach, the Knights rolled past Florida A&M, 85-56, in the season opener, looking sharp on both ends as they set the tone for what they want this new era to feel like.

The performance offered an early glimpse of a team that can defend and score with confidence, and it also gave UCF a strong opening statement under a coach making history in his own right. Keyera Roseby led the way with 22 points, helping the Knights turn the opener into a night their fans will remember, even if the bigger questions about how far this group can go are only beginning to take shape.
