Panthers Face A Thursday Night Problem That Could Decide This Game

With both the Panthers and Packers looking to rebound after losses, Thursday Night Football presents exciting anytime touchdown scorer opportunities for savvy NFL bettors.

Thursday night in Week 8 sets up as one of those games where the touchdown market feels especially alive. The Carolina Panthers are heading to Green Bay to face the Packers in an NFC matchup with both teams coming off Week 7 losses, and there are a few scorers worth circling in the anytime touchdown market.

The total has already climbed from 47.5 to 48.5 since opening on Sunday, and Carolina’s offense has shown enough early-season efficiency to keep this from feeling like a sleepy standalone game. Through six weeks, the Panthers rank top-11 in EPA/Play and yards per play, while Green Bay has leaned on Jordan Love’s big-play passing to get Christian Watson, Tucker Kraft and Matthew Golden into the end zone in recent weeks.

One of the strongest touchdown angles belongs to Packers running back Josh Jacobs. He missed the first six weeks of the season on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, then came back in Week 7 and wasted no time making an impact against Detroit.

Jacobs played 52.2 percent of Green Bay’s offensive snaps, but he handled 18 opportunities - 11 carries and seven targets - and scored. He finished with 11 rushes for 36 yards, plus five catches on seven targets for 55 yards and a receiving touchdown in the loss.

The matchup is as good as it gets. Carolina ranks 30th in EPA/Rush, 32nd in yards per carry allowed and 32nd in rushing touchdowns allowed with 11 on the season.

The price isn’t exactly soft, but Jacobs has been as reliable as they come in a Packers uniform, scoring 31 touchdowns in 33 games. Against this run defense, he’s tough to pass up.

Tetairoa McMillan is another name to watch on the Carolina side. He scored both of his touchdowns in a Week 4 win over Detroit, and he remains the top receiving option in this Panthers offense. After Carolina got blown out in Week 7 and sat its starters late, McMillan looks like a strong rebound candidate here.

The former first-round pick has piled up 54 targets, 36 receptions and 511 receiving yards across six games, while playing more than 82 percent of Carolina’s snaps. Green Bay checks in fifth in the NFL in EPA/Pass, but the Packers have still given up nine passing touchdowns. With Jalen Coker dealing with a shoulder issue, McMillan’s role looks even more secure.

Tucker Kraft rounds out the plays worth targeting. The Packers tight end has been on the field constantly, logging 81.6 percent of Green Bay’s snaps in the 2026 season. He scored in Week 7 against Detroit, and there’s good reason to think he can do it again Thursday night.

Kraft has seen at least five targets in six of his seven games, and he’s caught 29 of 43 targets for 297 yards overall. Love has clearly leaned on him in the red zone, throwing his way eight times in seven games.

Kraft has turned those looks into six catches and two touchdowns, including three targets inside the 10-yard line in 2026. Carolina has already allowed four receiving scores to tight ends in six games, which makes this price look appealing as Kraft continues working back into form after an ACL injury.

Panthers Suddenly Have A Trade Deadline Problem In The Secondary

The Panthers have spent the weeks leading up to the trade deadline looking for help at cornerback after injuries hit Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, and the market has already started to come into focus. ESPN has tied Carolina to a pair of possible targets in Riq Woolen and Donte Jackson, giving the team at least a couple of paths to patch up a position group that has suddenly become a concern.

Woolen would bring the bigger upside if Carolina wanted to swing for impact, even if there are obvious questions attached to his play. Jackson, meanwhile, would offer a more familiar kind of solution and could help stabilize the spot sooner rather than later. Either way, the Panthers appear to have a real deadline decision to make if they want to keep the secondary from becoming an even bigger issue. [Read more 🡒]

Panthers Secondary Just Took Another Hit Before Jordan Love Test

The Panthers secondary took another blow this week when Akayleb Evans was placed on injured reserve with knee and triceps injuries, knocking him out for Sundays matchup with the Packers. Evans had stepped into a starting role over the last three games, giving Carolina some needed stability in a back end that has already been stretched thin by injuries to Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson.

Now the Panthers are heading into Week 8 with even less margin for error against Green Bay and quarterback Jordan Love, who has been productive through the air this season. For a defense already trying to patch together its coverage plan, losing another corner only adds to the pressure to find answers quickly. [Read more 🡒]

Panthers Secondary Suddenly Faces A Brutal Test In Green Bay

With the Panthers heading into Thursday nights game in Green Bay, the secondary has been thinned to the point where roster depth is now part of the weekly game plan. Carolina is elevating veteran cornerback Marco Wilson from the practice squad as the injuries continue to pile up, leaving the team with just two healthy cornerbacks on the active roster.

Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson are on injured reserve, while Akayleb Evans is sidelined with injuries, and the challenge does not stop there. The Panthers will also be without pass rusher Jaelan Phillips and left guard Damien Lewis, adding more pressure to a short-handed group that is about to be tested under the lights against the Packers.
