Panthers Eye Explosive Talent Compared to Hall of Famer

The Carolina Panthers are eyeing Oregon's Kenyon Sadiq, a tight end with Hall of Fame comparisons, as a potential first-round draft pick to bolster their offensive lineup.

The Carolina Panthers are eyeing a potential game-changer, and he's drawing comparisons to a Hall of Fame legend. As they look to bolster their roster for quarterback Bryce Young, the Panthers are considering adding a versatile tight end to their lineup.

Recent drafts haven’t yielded the tight end success Carolina hoped for, with Tommy Tremble and Ja'Tavion Sanders not meeting expectations, and Mitchell Evans seeing limited action as a rookie. This has sparked discussions about the Panthers targeting a tight end in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Travis May from A to Z Sports suggests that the Panthers might make a bold move by selecting Oregon Ducks' Kenyon Sadiq with their 19th overall pick. Sadiq, who has been likened to Chargers legend Antonio Gates, is known for his dynamic playmaking abilities.

"Kenyon Sadiq is a versatile tight end who started his career primarily as a receiver but has developed his blocking skills," May notes. "He was essentially Oregon’s top receiving option last season and could bring that same explosiveness to the Panthers, especially when paired with Tetairoa McMillan."

In 2025, Sadiq showcased his skills with 51 receptions for 560 yards and eight touchdowns, demonstrating remarkable athleticism. Over his three seasons with the Ducks, he became a key player, especially in 2024 when he caught 24 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 245 pounds, Sadiq has the size to play tight end at the professional level, while also possessing the skills of a large wide receiver.

The big question for the Panthers is whether to use their top draft pick on a tight end when they have other pressing needs, particularly on defense. With just 30 sacks in 2025, Carolina needs to enhance their pass rush and strengthen their offensive line.

Choosing Sadiq would be a best-player-available strategy. However, after clinching the NFC South, the Panthers might feel ready to make such a luxury pick this April.
