Jaycee Horn has already earned a spot among the league’s better corners, and Bleacher Report’s NFL scouts see him right there in the mix. They ranked the Carolina Panthers standout 12th at the position, placing him one slot ahead of Marcus Jones of the New England Patriots and one behind Sauce Gardner of the Indianapolis Colts.
The evaluation leaned heavily on the traits that make Horn such a difficult matchup. Bleacher Report described him as “a twitched-up athlete with great length, ball skills, and coverage versatility at the cornerback position,” adding that those kinds of players tend to last in the NFL. The scouts also pointed to his feel for the game, saying he “plays with a great understanding of route concepts and film study on where quarterbacks want to go with the football and how receivers win.”
There was criticism, too. Bleacher Report called Horn “a poor tackler” and said he “falls off ball-carriers more often than he should,” which can lead to extra yards after the catch. Even so, the bottom line was clear: after a career-high five interceptions last season, along with a few coverage slips that led to touchdowns, he remains “one of the best in coverage around the league.”
That production helped fuel another strong season for Carolina. Horn made his second straight Pro Bowl, finished with five interceptions and eight passes defended, and was part of a Panthers team that won the NFC South and reached the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 campaign. Over 53 games with Carolina, Horn has 10 interceptions.
His play was a major piece of a defense that finished 15th in the NFL in points per game allowed last season, and the Panthers’ run ended with a Wild Card loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the 2026 NFL playoffs.
Horn sounded focused on the bigger picture after that breakthrough season. “For me, I'm mainly just thinking team. Like we had a successful year this year in going to the playoffs, and I feel like we kind of figured out how to win and figured out what winning feels like,” Horn said.
He said the progress around the organization was impossible to miss. “When you sit back and just look at where we were, like a guy like me, my rookie year, and the years after that, to see how far we came, that this past season was definitely a win to get to the playoffs, but we can make that next level jump, and I think we will.
“And I'm so excited for next year to get back and go and be going to these games with everybody actually believing, actually believing we can get it done and seeing how next season goes.”
Carolina opens the 2026 season against the Chicago Bears, which means Horn’s first assignment will be trying to make things hard on Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
Horn said staying on the field has been a big part of why he’s climbing this list. “I've been healthy the last two years, been to two Pro Bowls, and now I'm just trying to keep that going and maybe just keep racking them up year after year after year.
Maybe I can catch up, and I won't even think about the three I missed before,” Horn said. “But yeah, I know it's just still a blessing to be in this league and make money playing a kids' game.
So I'm so focused on just trying to keep my game at a high level and just seeing where it falls at the end of the day.”
