In a surprising turn of events, former NFL star Robert Nkemdiche found himself in hot water after an alleged shoplifting incident in Georgia. The ex-Arizona Cardinals first-round pick, who once pocketed nearly $5 million during his professional football career, was stopped by Union City Police officers late one February evening.
The incident unfolded at a local Kroger store, where Nkemdiche was accused of concealing items like candy bars, frozen meals, and cartons of almond milk in his clothing. Police bodycam footage captured the tense exchange, with officers confronting Nkemdiche about the suspicious bulge in his pants. Despite his protests of innocence, the officers were not convinced, citing previous encounters with him.
One officer was particularly blunt, recounting how they had seen him run behind a gas station after initially letting him go. Another officer mentioned it was her third time questioning him, highlighting a pattern of repeated offenses.
The situation escalated when Nkemdiche was handcuffed outside a nearby gas station. Although the store chose not to press charges, his arrest was inevitable due to multiple outstanding warrants across several states.
This isn't Nkemdiche's first brush with the law. Back in 2015, he faced charges for marijuana possession after a dramatic fall from a hotel balcony during his college days at Ole Miss. At the time, he publicly apologized, acknowledging his mistakes and expressing regret for his actions.
Nkemdiche's NFL journey saw him play for the Cardinals until 2018, followed by stints with the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, and San Francisco 49ers. After leaving the NFL, he continued his football career with teams like the Michigan Panthers in the USFL and the Edmonton Elks in the CFL.
