Bryce Young’s growth as the Panthers’ leader was on display in a 2025 season that gave Carolina plenty to build on, even if the year ended in defeat. Young, meanwhile, says leadership for him starts with knowing who is in the room every year. In an interview with Mike Tomlin, he explained that part of the job is constantly adjusting to the new faces arriving in the building.
“Yeah, I think every year you have to make sure you're learning your new team,” Young told Mike Tomlin in an interview. “I'm grateful to have a lot of guys that I've been around for a while now, have that rapport built in.
But year in, year out, you have to make sure you're learning the new guys, the guys that are coming in. I'm comfortable with this, being in the building, with the franchise, with all that, and then continuing to push and be the leader that we need, and that changes every day.”

On the field, Young’s 2025 numbers marked a modest jump from his first two seasons. He passed for more than 3,000 yards for the first time in his career, finished with a career-best 63.6% completion rate, and threw 23 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. It wasn’t the breakout many had hoped for from the former first-overall pick, but it did point in the right direction.
His postseason debut may have told the clearest story of all. The stat line looked ordinary at first glance - 21-of-40 passing for 250 yards, one touchdown and one interception - but the performance felt bigger than the numbers. Young stayed composed, matched up with the Rams’ offense, and even put Carolina ahead during the two-minute warning.
The Panthers are now waiting to see whether that momentum turns into the leap they’ve been chasing. Young heads into his fourth season in the league with the spotlight squarely on him again.
