The Carolina Hurricanes have brought Seth Jarvis back onto the active roster, activating the star forward from injured reserve after he spent the opening weeks of the season working back from offseason shoulder surgery.
Carolina also shuffled two other forwards in a corresponding set of moves. Bradly Nadeau was assigned to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, while Skyler Brind’Amour was recalled from Chicago.
Jarvis’ return comes far earlier than the timeline the team first laid out. On June 27, Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky said Jarvis was expected to miss 4-to-6 months after undergoing surgery shortly after the club’s Stanley Cup run.
Jarvis, for his part, had already hinted that a quicker comeback was possible. He told The Associated Press in late September that he hoped to be back for Carolina’s trip to Finland for its two-game series against Seattle on Nov. 12 and 14, while also leaving open the possibility of returning by the end of October.
Now, less than four months after the procedure, he’s back on the active roster. The Hurricanes did not say whether he would play in Thursday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers.
Jarvis is in his fifth season and was one of Carolina’s biggest offensive drivers last year, posting 32 goals and 66 points in 71 games. He added four goals and 11 points in 19 postseason games as the Hurricanes beat the Vegas Golden Knights for the second Stanley Cup in franchise history.
Across 375 career NHL games, all with Carolina, Jarvis has 128 goals and 279 points. He also represented Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025 and the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics, helping Canada win gold at the former and silver at the latter.

Hurricanes Kept Grinding Through A Tough Road Night And It Paid Off
Rogers Arena opened the night with a tribute to late broadcaster John Garrett and his family, and the matchup that followed turned into a stubborn, physical road test for Carolina. Vancouvers penalty kill had the Hurricanes frustrated early, wiping out all four of their power plays, but Carolina kept grinding through the game anyway and stayed patient while the scoring tilted back and forth.
The payoff came in a 6-3 win that had the Hurricanes leaning on depth at key moments, with Nicolas Deslauriers, Nikolaj Ehlers and Logan Stankoven all finding the net. Vancouver got support from Linus Karlsson and Jonathan Lekkerimaki, but Carolinas ability to keep coming in a tough building, after so much special-teams frustration, was the difference on a night when the visitors could have easily let it slip away. Hurricanes Suddenly Look Like A Real Threat In Dylan Larkin Sweepstakes
Dylan Larkins trade watch suddenly has a much broader map, with the Detroit captain now open to a list that has ballooned from three teams to 10. Carolina is in that mix, alongside clubs such as Colorado, Dallas, New Jersey, Tampa Bay, Utah and Washington, but the latest wrinkle is less about the size of the field and more about which teams can actually make the math work.
For the Hurricanes, the interest matters because cap space can turn a speculative sweepstakes into a real one, and Detroits ability to take salary in a deal gives the Red Wings some flexibility in how they build an offer. If Carolina wants to stay involved, the next layer is figuring out whether it can position itself as a serious landing spot without having to gut the roster or get creative in ways that narrow its options elsewhere. Hurricanes Suddenly Have A Nikishin Problem They Cant Ignore
Alexander Nikishin was supposed to be one of the more intriguing long-term pieces in Carolinas system, but his path with the Hurricanes has become far messier than expected. The promising defenseman remains unsigned, and the contract standoff has now turned into a broader issue for a team that has spent plenty of time and energy building out its blue line.
Nikishin has also asked for a trade, leaving Carolina in the awkward spot of trying to protect its leverage while still sorting through outside interest. The Hurricanes are still in talks with other clubs, but as of this week the picture has barely moved, which only adds to the sense that this one may take time before anything breaks. [Read more 🡒]
