Jacob Fowler’s rookie campaign in pro hockey just picked up another milestone. On Thursday, the 21-year-old netminder was named to the AHL All-Star Classic roster - a well-earned nod in what’s shaping up to be a memorable first season.
Fowler, who’s already logged a 4-3-2 record with the Canadiens, will represent the organization at the All-Star festivities alongside center Laurent Dauphin, defenseman Adam Engstrom, and head coach Pascal Vincent. The event is set for February 10-11 in Rockford, Illinois, and it marks the first AHL All-Star selection for all three players.
While Fowler isn’t currently suiting up for the Laval Rocket - he’s part of the Canadiens’ three-goalie rotation in Montreal - the timing works out. With the NHL pausing for the Olympic break after February 4, and Fowler not traveling to Italy, he’ll be available to take part in the All-Star showcase.
Even though his time in Laval has been limited, Fowler’s impact hasn’t gone unnoticed. His poise between the pipes and ability to hold his own against high-level competition have quickly made him a name to watch in the Canadiens’ system.
Joining him is 22-year-old Adam Engstrom, who’s in his second season with the Rocket and currently leads the team in scoring among defensemen. Engstrom has also seen NHL action this year, appearing in 11 games for Montreal. He’s shown impressive two-way instincts, balancing offensive contributions with responsible play in his own zone - a combination that’s earned him both AHL and NHL minutes.
Laurent Dauphin, a veteran presence down the middle, rounds out the group. His leadership and consistency have been key for Laval, and his selection is a testament to the value he brings on and off the ice.
And then there’s Pascal Vincent, who’s guided this Rocket team with a steady hand. His inclusion speaks to the strides Laval has made under his leadership, with a roster that blends promising youth and experienced pros.
Together, this group will represent the Rocket and Canadiens organization on one of the AHL’s biggest stages - a well-deserved spotlight for a team that’s quietly building something strong.
