Jake Wahlin is on the move once more, making waves in the college basketball landscape. The Provo native, who initially committed to BYU and later played for the Utah Runnin’ Utes, has announced his decision to transfer from Clemson. He shared this update on Instagram, signaling a new chapter in his basketball journey.
The 6-foot-10 junior forward had a significant role at Clemson, starting 29 games this past season. During his time with the Tigers, Wahlin averaged 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, showcasing his skills in 35 appearances. His contributions were vital in helping Clemson achieve 24 victories and secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
Reflecting on his time at Clemson, Wahlin expressed gratitude for the relationships he built and the experiences he gained. "After a year in Tiger Town, I’ve built many deep and meaningful relationships I’ll forever be thankful for.
I’m thankful for the coaching staff and entire community for the opportunity to be a part of an incredible culture," he shared. He also thanked his teammates for an unforgettable season, highlighting the camaraderie and success they shared.
Wahlin's journey began as a three-star recruit from Timpview High, where he initially committed to BYU under coach Mark Pope. However, after completing his Latter-day Saint mission in Lithuania, he changed course, signing with Utah.
In his two seasons with the Runnin’ Utes, Wahlin played in 53 games, averaging 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds. His sophomore year was particularly noteworthy, with him posting 6.3 points per game and shooting 35% from beyond the arc.
