BYU's Notre Dame Showdown Just Became A National Event

With stakes high and ticket prices even higher, two undefeated teams clash as BYU hosts Notre Dame in a top-10 showdown that promises to be one of the priciest tickets of the college football season.

BYU’s showdown with Notre Dame is drawing some of the priciest tickets in college football this weekend, and the number only underscores how much is packed into Saturday night in Provo.

As of Wednesday, the cheapest available seat for No. 8 BYU against No.

2 Notre Dame at LaVell Edwards Stadium was listed at $429, including fees, on TicketData. That made it the second-most expensive game on the Week 7 schedule, trailing only No.

4 Ohio State’s visit to No. 5 Indiana, which had a get-in price of $474.

Ticket prices for BYU-Notre Dame have already fallen 13% over the past three days, though they figures are expected to keep moving as kickoff gets closer. The weather should help the scene, too: forecasts call for sunny skies and temperatures in the low 60s at kickoff after the stretch of weather Utahns have seen recently.

The game is set for 5:30 p.m. MT on ABC.

The market says plenty about the matchup itself. Both teams are unbeaten, with BYU sitting at 5-0 and Notre Dame at 6-0, and the Cougars have a chance to strengthen their College Football Playoff case against one of the sport’s most recognizable programs. It will also be the first time BYU has hosted a game between two top-10 teams.

Notre Dame arrives with a No. 1-ranked defense and impact talent on both sides of the ball, which puts the spotlight on a BYU defense that also ranks in the top 10. The Cougars will have to create problems for the Irish by forcing turnovers, generating plays behind the line and getting pressure on the quarterback.

Saturday brings another milestone for the program, too. ESPN’s “College GameDay” will be on BYU’s campus for the first time in 17 years before kickoff, adding a national stage to a game already carrying major attention.

For BYU, the stakes go beyond the buzz. A win over Notre Dame would give the Cougars a major lift in the playoff conversation after they were left out of the CFP last year, and it would put the program in front of a national audience on ABC.

The weekend’s schedule is loaded with ranked matchups elsewhere, including No. 6 Alabama against No.

14 Tennessee, No. 9 Ole Miss against No.

13 Missouri and No. 16 Mississippi State against No.

22 LSU. Alabama-Tennessee at Neyland Stadium sits just behind BYU-Notre Dame and Ohio State-Indiana on the price list, with a get-in price of $337.

BYU Just Landed A Huge Recruiting Opportunity With A Five-Star Wing

BYU is set to get an important look this month from one of the top names in the 2027 basketball class, as five-star wing AJ Williams plans to visit Provo starting Oct. 15. The 6-foot-7 standout from Eagles Landing Christian Academy has trimmed his list to 10 schools and already made stops at several of them, putting the Cougars squarely in the mix as they continue to chase high-end talent on the wing.

Williams is ranked No. 5 overall in the 2027 cycle, which makes this one of the most significant recruiting battles BYU has been involved in recently. There is no public decision timeline yet, but the visit gives the Cougars a chance to strengthen what is already viewed as a promising position, with a commitment potentially coming before the early signing period in November 2026. Notre Dame Is Saying All The Right Things About BYU Before Saturday

As Notre Dame gets ready for Saturdays top-10 matchup at LaVell Edwards Stadium, Marcus Freeman has spent the week stressing the basics: execute cleanly, handle the environment and be ready for the noise. He also made it clear that BYUs offense starts with quarterback Bear Bachmeier, who he described as a dual-threat problem for a defense that will have its hands full in Provo.

The Fighting Irish players have echoed that same tone, talking up the significance of the game and the kind of competitive atmosphere they expect on the road. Its the sort of buildup that usually means both sides understand what is at stake, even if the real answer comes only once the opening kickoff turns all the pregame talk into live football. BYUs Biggest GameDay Mystery Could Steal The Weekend

ESPNs College GameDay is bringing its setup to the lawn at Heritage Halls on the east side of BYUs campus for the showdown between No. 8 BYU and No. 2 Notre Dame, and that alone would make this weekend feel unusually big in Provo. The backdrop adds another layer to a game that already has plenty of weight, with the show giving the Cougars a national stage and turning the campus into part of the event itself.

The open question hanging over the broadcast is who will serve as the guest picker, with several names tied to BYU floating around but no official choice yet. Bear Bachmeier also added a personal wrinkle to the buildup by talking about his own and his familys allegiances to BYU and Notre Dame, which only deepens the intrigue around a weekend that already has more storylines than either sideline probably wants to sort through before kickoff.
