The first simulated BCS standings of the 2026 college football season arrived Monday, and the old formula wasted no time putting Georgia and Notre Dame in their own lane.
BCSKnowHow’s calculation has Georgia at No. 1 with a .9858 score, with Notre Dame next at .9425. Those two are alone at the top, and the rest of the rankings settle into a clear staircase after that.
Georgia’s rise was powered by its road win at Alabama, a result that also pushed the Bulldogs to No. 1 in the AP Top 25. The Bulldogs picked up 66 of 70 first-place votes in the AP poll and are now 6-0. The win in Tuscaloosa was Georgia’s first there since 2007, and it also knocked Texas out of the top spot after the Longhorns lost to Oklahoma 27-24 in the Red River Rivalry.
Notre Dame stayed right behind the Bulldogs after a 58-7 rout of Stanford. The Irish are 6-0 and rank No. 2 in the AP poll, matching their place in the simulated BCS.
Behind the top two, Miami, Indiana, and Ohio State form the next group. Miami is 5-0, Indiana is 6-0, and Ohio State is 5-1. Indiana’s narrow win at Nebraska kept the Hoosiers unbeaten and moving up.
Alabama and Texas come in at Nos. 6 and 7 even after their losses, a reminder that the old BCS system still gave real weight to quality of opponent and the body of work built before a setback.
The rest of the top 12 includes BYU, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Utah, and UCLA. UCLA’s upset of Oregon lifted the Bruins nine spots in the AP poll to No. 12, and the computers were just as impressed.
After that, the gap opens fast. Missouri checks in at .4668, with Iowa, Tennessee, and the rest of the field trailing behind.
The BCS standings are a throwback at this point, of course. The College Football Playoff now uses a 12-team selection committee, not the old mix of polls and computer rankings. But this first simulated release still makes the same point loud and clear: Georgia and Notre Dame have separated themselves from everyone else.

BYU Just Made A Clear Statement Before Notre Dame
BYU is leaning into a familiar look for one of its biggest stages of the season, choosing its classic royal home uniforms with white pants and a white helmet with a royal blue facemask for the game against Notre Dame. It is a throwback combination that was most associated with the 1980s and 1990s, and it gives the Cougars a clean, traditional presentation for a matchup that will draw plenty of attention.
The choice also stands out because BYU has already rotated through multiple uniform combinations this season, but this one feels deliberate. The Cougars last wore the look in November 2025 against TCU, and bringing it back now suggests they want the classic brand front and center when the spotlight is brightest. [Read more 🡒]
BYU Gets Timely Injury Boost Ahead Of Notre Dame
BYU got a useful lift this week as it heads into its matchup with Notre Dame, with starters Raider Damuni and Isaiah Glasker both back on the depth chart after dealing with injuries. Kalani Sitake said most of the regulars should be available, a welcome bit of news for a team trying to line up as close to full strength as possible for one of the biggest games on its schedule.
The Cougars still have a couple of notable absences to sort through, with Andrew Gentry and LJ Martin not yet back in the mix. Running back Sione Moa has returned to practice, but he has not been added back to the depth chart yet, leaving BYU with a little more clarity than it had earlier in the week and a few questions still hanging over the final game-day setup. BYU Just Added A Tradition Twist To Notre Dame Week
BYU is leaning into a classic look for one of its biggest nonconference stages of the season. For Saturdays meeting with Notre Dame, the Cougars announced they will go with a white helmet featuring the royal blue stretch Y, paired with a royal blue uniform and white pants with royal blue stripes, a combination that gives the matchup a little extra throwback feel.
It is the first time BYU has worn that set against Notre Dame since 1993, and the look most recently appeared in last years game against TCU. The primetime slot only adds to the spotlight, with kickoff set for 5:30 p.m. MDT on ABC, and the uniforms now join the list of small details that tend to matter when a program is trying to make a statement in a game like this.
