Maryland men's basketball is assembling quite the squad for the upcoming 2025-26 season, with the latest addition of transfer guard Andre Mills from Texas A&M. Announcing his commitment via Instagram, Mills becomes the fifth transfer brought on board by Buzz Williams and the fourth player to follow him from Texas A&M. He joins the ranks of former Aggies Pharrel Payne, Solomon Washington, as well as Kansas transfer guard David Coit, and Indiana transfer guard Myles Rice.
Standing at 6-foot-4, Mills is a talented shooting guard hailing from Boston. Though he spent his freshman year as a redshirt at Texas A&M, he's got four years of eligibility ahead of him.
Ranked as a four-star recruit and coming in at No. 92 in the Class of 2024 according to 247Sports, Mills has a promising potential on the court. His high school days were spent at Brimmer and May School in Newton, Massachusetts, where he made quite a mark.
Highlighting his high school career, Mills was crowned Player of the Year in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). His senior year stats were nothing short of impressive, boasting over 30 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals per game.
A three-time All-NEPSAC selection, Mills also set a school record with a 52-point game performance. Initially, he chose Texas A&M over offers from schools like Boston College, Iowa, UMass, Providence, and Temple.
With five former Texas A&M players venturing into the transfer portal, it's notable that 60% of them have now committed to Maryland. There's still some talent on the move, including redshirt freshman George Turkson Jr. and Rob Dockery, a Washington, D.C. guard who redshirted in 2023-24 and saw action in one game last season.
Buzz Williams is building quite a roster with 10 spots available, and the expanded roster of 15 scholarship players promises more exciting developments for the Terps in the 2025-26 season.
